Background: Curcuminoids, the bioactive compounds found in turmeric, exhibit potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. This study aims to enhance extraction of curcuminoids from turmeric using environmentally friendly solvents supercritical CO2 (scCO2) combined with natural deep eutectic (NADESs) one process, evaluate resulting biological activity. Methods: A Box–Behnken statistical design was applied optimize scCO2 conditions—pressure, volume, temperature—to maximize curcuminoid yield. Next, menthol lactic acid NADESs were selected, these two into a single process. The activity extract evaluated antioxidant assays (ferric reducing power 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) enzyme inhibition (acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase, tyrosinase). Toxicity assessments conducted on aquatic invertebrates Daphnia pulex, Artemia sp., Chironomus aprilinus. Results: most effective achieved menthol–lactic NADES as cosolvent, integrated at 1:20 ratio plant material while combination scCO2. optimized scCO2–NADES resulted high yield (33.35 mg/g), outperforming (234.3 μg/g), ultrasound-assisted (30.50 alcohol-based (22.95–26.42 mg/g). In assays, demonstrated significant enzymes studies showed concentration-dependent response, EC50 for aprilinus level 0.098 μL/mL pulex exhibiting sensitivity extract. Conclusions: highlights potential combining demonstrating effectiveness maximizing enhancing bioactivity.

Echinatin is an active ingredient in licorice, a traditional Chinese medicine used the treatment of inflammatory disorders. However, protective effect and underlying mechanism echinatin against acute lung injury (ALI) still unclear. Herein, we aimed to explore echinatin-mediated anti-inflammatory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated ALI its molecular mechanisms macrophages. In vitro , markedly decreased levels nitric oxide (NO) prostaglandin E2 (PGE 2 ) LPS-stimulated murine MH-S alveolar macrophages RAW264.7 by suppressing inducible synthase cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression. Furthermore, reduced LPS-induced mRNA expression release interleukin-1β (IL-1β) IL-6 cells. Western blotting CETSA showed that repressed activation mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathways through targeting transforming growth factor-beta-activated 1 (TAK1). directly interacted with Kelch-like ECH-associated (Keap1) activated factor erythroid 2-related (Nrf2) pathway enhance heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) vivo ameliorated injury, production IL-1β IL-6. These findings demonstrated exerted via blocking TAK1-MAPK/NF-κB activating Keap1-Nrf2-HO-1 pathway.

To investigate the effects of nano selenium (nano-Se), curcumin (CUR), and glycyrrhiza extracts (GE) on reproductive performance, antioxidant immune functions primiparous sows parity-2 sows, 54 (Landrace × Yorkshire) were randomly divided into three groups (18 per group): (1) CON group, basal diet (0.30 mg·kg−1 Se, sodium selenite); (2) CUR + 0.20 Se (nano-Se) 300 CUR; (3) GE 500 GE. The trial lasted for approximately 180 days from day 90 gestation to sows. There no significant differences in performance among (p > 0.05), but litter weight gain piglets group was 16.49% higher than that < 0.05). Compared with serum SOD GSH-Px levels significantly increased, MDA content extremely decreased. concentrations IL-6 IL-1β 0.05) lower those IL-10 TNF-α higher. combination nano-Se decreased level increased concentration In conclusion, addition along or at parturition, enhanced their stress resistance, thus improved growth offspring

The review summarized the literature data of recent years on antitumor effect secondary plant metabolites, as well their immunotropic and anti-inflammatory effects components response. biological basis for action metabolites was characterized in form influence potential targets: transcription factors, signaling pathways receptors responsible proliferation apoptosis. ways increasing bioavailability to enhance effectiveness possibility medicinal use were considered, berberine, curcumin derivatives described. search scientific publications conducted foreign (PubMed) domestic (eLibrary) electronic libraries. It found that multiplicity molecular targets pleiotropy suggest regulation various processes tumor normal cells. There a connection between immunomodulatory action. However, significant limitation fact most studies cell cultures, which insufficient judge effect. Clinical trials few results contradictory. In addition, certain contradiction has been noted idea more effective when using pure substance or complex composition components. An important problem low methods have proposed. Despite long history phytotherapy oncology, development new with high water solubility remains relevant, including modified molecules known ones unexplored activity. Herbal medicine, particularly in developing regions, remains highly popular due to its cost-effectiveness, accessibility, and minimal risk of adverse effects. Curcuma longa L., commonly known as turmeric, exemplifies such herbal remedies with extensive history culinary medicinal applications across Asia for thousands years. Traditionally utilized a dye, flavoring, cultural rituals, turmeric has also been employed treat spectrum medical conditions, including inflammatory, bacterial, fungal infections, jaundice, tumors, ulcers. Building on this longstanding use, contemporary biochemical clinical research identified curcumin—the primary active compound turmeric—as possessing significant therapeutic potential. This review hypothesizes that curcumin’s antioxidant properties are pivotal preventing treating chronic inflammatory diseases, which often precursors more severe cancer, neurological disorders, like Parkinson’s Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, while curcumin demonstrates favorable safety profile, anticoagulant effects warrant cautious application. article synthesizes recent studies elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying actions evaluates efficacy various human illnesses, bowel disease, osteoarthritis, atherosclerosis, peptic ulcers, COVID-19, psoriasis, vitiligo, depression. By integrating diverse findings, aims provide comprehensive perspective role modern medicine potential multifaceted agent.

Depression is one of the most common diseases in world, and it also mental disorder. Depressive disorders are a real threat not only to individuals, but general population. This disease leading cause disability inability work. Due numerous side effects conventional drugs, attention increasingly being paid other solutions, including herbal medicines. Many plant species known for their traditional uses treatment anxiety, insomnia, depression. The clinically proven adaptogenic raw materials on depression symptoms probably related positive impact some secondary metabolites (terpenoids, alkaloids, glucosinolates, phenols). Currently, emphasized that many cases antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties substances play protective role at neurocellular level. Among medicinal plants analyzed clinical trials depression, following seem be particularly interesting: saffron (Crocus L.), turmeric (Curcuma ginkgo (Ginkgo St. John's wort (Hypericum passionflower (Passiflora which have broad strong biological activity, well-documented history action use, effectiveness preventing and/or treating anxiety These still sphere biochemical phytopharmaceutical research, results very promising.
