Polyphenols, naturally occurring phytonutrients found in plant-based foods, have attracted significant attention for their potential therapeutic effects neurological diseases and neuroinflammation. These compounds possess diverse neuroprotective capabilities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-amyloid properties, which contribute to mitigating the progression of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Parkinson's (PD), Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Stroke, Huntington's (HD). Polyphenols been extensively studied ability regulate inflammatory responses by modulating activity pro-inflammatory genes influencing signal transduction pathways, thereby reducing neuroinflammation neuronal death. Additionally, polyphenols shown promise various cellular signaling pathways associated with viability, synaptic plasticity, cognitive function. Epidemiological clinical studies highlight polyphenol-rich diets decrease risk alleviate symptoms disorders Furthermore, demonstrated through regulation key Akt, Nrf2, STAT, MAPK, play critical roles neuroprotection body's immune response. This review emphasizes growing body evidence supporting combating neurodegeneration neuroinflammation, well enhancing brain health. Despite substantial promising hypotheses, further research investigations are necessary fully understand role establish them advanced targets age-related neuroinflammatory conditions.

Deciphering the molecular communications along gut-brain axis can help in understanding pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and exploiting gut microbiome for therapeutics. However, microbes their metabolites have a multifaceted role mediating both brain physiology pathology. There is lack how when this tipped what are those contributing factors, at local (gut) distal (neuronal) levels, that drive imbalance. Here we reviewed its context summarized different factors such as gut-microbial diversity, metabolites, native immune system integrity epithelial blood-brain barriers interconnected collectively define involvement gut-microbiome pathologies. It also underlines need multidisciplinary tools animal models to simultaneously reflect on many these better correlate with clinical observations data obtained from human biopsies fecal samples. Harnessing will herald paradigm shift medicine aging, emphasizing significance broader spectrum health disease.

Recent advancements in analytical strategies have enabled the efficient extraction and characterization of bioactive compounds from agri-food bio-residues, emphasizing green chemistry circular economy principles. This review highlights valorization several bio-residues for high-value-added compounds, particularly polyphenols, tocopherols, carotenoids, fatty acids, as a biorefinery approach. To this end, adoption environmentally friendly technologies is essential to improve performance, reduce energy consumption, minimize costs. study therefore examines emerging methodologies such supercritical fluid extraction, pressurized liquid pulsed electric fields, matrix solid-phase dispersion, highlighting their advantages limitations. Additionally, chemical these explored through spectrophotometric high-resolution chromatographic techniques, crucial accurate identification quantification. complemented by an analysis bioactivity assays evaluating antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory properties, with focus on applications food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic industries. However, control toxic alkaloids, undoubtedly needed. Ultimately, approach not only promotes sustainability but also contributes development eco-friendly solutions various
