Sjögren’s
syndrome
(SS)
is
an
autoimmune
disease
that
can
be
classified
as
epithelitis
based
on
the
immune-mediated
attack
directed
specifically
at
epithelial
cells.
SS
predominantly
affects
women,
characterized
by
production
of
highly
specific
circulating
autoantibodies,
and
major
targets
are
salivary
lachrymal
glands.
Although
a
genetic
predisposition
has
been
amply
demonstrated
for
SS,
etiology
remains
unclear.
The
recent
integration
epigenetic
data
relating
to
diseases
opens
new
therapeutic
perspectives
better
understanding
molecular

Autoimmune
diseases
are
a
group
of
heterogeneous
disorders
characterized

ABSTRACT
Objectives
Primary
Sjögren's
disease
(SjD)
is
a
slow‐progressing
autoimmune

salivary

eyes
(xerophthalmia)
mouth
(xerostomia).
Diagnosing
SjD
involves
clinical,
serological,
histological
assessments,
but
reliable
biomarkers
are
lacking.
Methods
This
study
analyzed
the
metabolic
proteomic
profiles
of
19
female
patients
(based
on
ACR‐EULAR
criteria)
compared
to
20
healthy
individuals.
Saliva
blood
samples
were
using
mass
spectrometry
chromatography.
Proteomic
analysis

with

nanoflow
