This study establishes and refines a social-landscape ecological security pattern that integrates the demand supply of ecosystem services, providing substantial foundation for restoration territorial spaces. is crucial enhancing effectiveness “social–ecological” systems in achieving sustainable development. Jilin Province, serving as national buffer experiencing rapid economic growth, exhibits significant spatial imbalance between social progress conservation. The balance service pivotal this context, making Province an ideal area. We employed multifaceted approach, including MSPA, InVEST model, landscape connectivity assessment, circuit theory, network integrity evaluation, to elucidate disparities services. then developed optimized patterns meet human demands safeguard integrity, thereby promoting development systems. key findings are follows: (1) services shows clear gradient, with lower values west higher east, while concentrated central region east west, indicating pronounced mismatch Province. (2) includes 18 barrier points, 33 pinch 166 corridors, 101 sources. (3) social–ecological comprises 119 sources 150 supply–demand corridors. (4) introduces 14 nodes 47 optimization proposing zoning schemes eastern core protection area, western Additionally, recommendations concerning system pattern. research advances theoretical understanding offers insights more harmonized strategies.

Mountains support many kinds of ecosystem services (ESs) for human beings, emphasizing the need to understand characteristics and drivers ES changes in mountainous regions. In this study, Nanling, most significant mountains southern China, was selected as a case study. Utilizing GlobeLand30 dataset, we employed InVEST, Geodetector MGWR identify spatio-temporal changes, investigate trade-offs synergies between ESs, examine relationship ESs landscape ecological risk index (LERI) provide new perspective management vulnerable mountain The results showed that carbon storage (CS) habitat quality (HQ) slightly decreased, while water yield (WY) increased slightly. Soil conservation (SC) significantly but total (TES) increased. All bundles demonstrated synergistic relationship, exhibited decreasing trend. study area were mainly affected by climate factors, anthropogenic factors also had impact on ESs. LERI negative correlation with provision high explanatory power especially CS, HQ TES, suggesting areas more stable patterns are likely harbor greater levels insights into analysis change areas, providing practical implications introducing driver change.

This research examined the multidimensional relationship between subjective quality of life, conservation attitudes, and livelihood vulnerability communities surrounding Kilimanjaro Mountain National Parks Biosphere Reserve in Tanzania. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey four villages bordering Park analyzed partial least square structural equation modeling. The results show that attitudes increase there are different levels household as life improves, indicating positive attitude. People with higher substantial their improves. medium weaker but still relations attitudes. However, when is lowest, change improved life. Furthermore, livelihood-vulnerable people tend to be more supportive than those lower vulnerability, this difference increases increases, significance predicting highly vulnerable groups. These essential for managers development practitioners, who focus on achieving win–win scenarios enhance people’s overall rather concentrating reducing vulnerabilities.

Reflecting the shift from purely quantitative economic growth to broader socio-environmental sustainability, this study proposes a framework for assessing sustainable development (SD) by integrating Maslow’s hierarchy of needs with Bossel’s classification system. As increasingly emphasizes numerous organizations and agencies, including United Nations, have developed indicators measure progress. However, subjective dimensions SD, grounded in individual values needs, remain underexplored. This operationalizes “pyramid needs” alongside system establish an “SD pyramid”, distinguishing that capture social, economic, environmental complexity. By mapping human onto Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributes delineating (i) research areas uncovered (or partly covered) relevant indicators, (ii) significant lack or partial shortage pertinent information, (iii) combination few basic summarizing necessary information into unique SD. The outcomes offer foundation quali-quantitative assessment enhancing monitoring tools focusing on contextual needs.
