Alkaloids are nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds typically isolated from plants. They represent one of the most important types natural products because their large number and structural diversity complexity. Based on chemical core structures, alkaloids classified as isoquinolines, quinolines, indoles, piperidine alkaloids, etc. In-depth analyses have revealed antibacterial activities. To date, due to widespread use antibiotics, problem drug-resistant bacterial infections has been gradually increasing, which severely affects clinical efficacy therapies patient safety. Therefore, significant research efforts focused they a potentially new type antibiotic with wide spectrum, rare adverse reactions, low tendency produce drug resistance. Their main mechanisms include inhibition cell wall synthesis, change in membrane permeability, metabolism, nucleic acid protein synthesis. This article reviews recent reports about structures activities alkaloids. The purpose is solve resistance provide certain theoretical basis ideas for development drugs.

Natural products have proven to significant curative effects and are increasingly considered as potential candidates for clinical prevention, diagnosis, treatment. Compared with synthetic drugs, natural not only diverse structures but also exhibit a range of biological activities against different disease states molecular targets, making them attractive development in the field medicine. Despite advancements use purposes, there remain obstacles that hinder their full potential. These challenges include issues such limited solubility stability when administered orally, well short durations effectiveness. To address these concerns, nano-drug delivery systems emerged promising solution overcome barriers faced application products. offer notable advantages, large specific surface area, enhanced targeting capabilities, ability achieve sustained controlled release. Extensive vitro vivo studies provided further evidence supporting efficacy safety nanoparticle-based delivering preclinical models. This review describes limitations product applications current status combined nanotechnology. The latest advances from three aspects: connecting warheads, self-assembly, co-delivery. Beyond their significant contribution to the dietary and industrial supplies, marine algae are considered be a potential source of some unique metabolites with diverse health benefits. The pharmacological properties, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cholesterol homeostasis, protein clearance anti-amyloidogenic potentials algal endorse protective efficacy against oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, impaired proteostasis which known implicated in pathophysiology neurodegenerative disorders associated complications after cerebral ischemia brain injuries. As was evident various preclinical studies, compounds conferred neuroprotection wide range neurotoxic stressors, oxygen/glucose deprivation, hydrogen peroxide, glutamate, amyloid β, or 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) and, therefore, hold therapeutic promise for disorders. While number promising neuroprotective capacity have been identified over last decades, few them had access clinical trials. However, recent approval an oligosaccharide, sodium oligomannate, treatment Alzheimer’s disease enlightened future algae-based drug discovery. In this review, we briefly outline diseases injuries identifying targets intervention, then review literature on along underlying mechanism, present appraisal advances. We also propose rational strategy facilitate metabolites-based development.

Abstract Macroalgae have been recently used for different applications in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry since they do not compete land freshwater against other resources. Moreover, highlighted as a potential source of bioactive compounds. Red algae (Rhodophyta) are largest group seaweeds, including around 6000 species, thus it can be hypothesized that Sulfated polysaccharides, mainly agar carrageenans, most relevant exploited compounds red algae. Other molecules essential fatty acids, phycobiliproteins, vitamins, minerals, secondary metabolites. All these demonstrated to exert several biological activities, among which antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antimicrobial properties highlighted. Nevertheless, need further tested on vivo experiments go in-depth study mechanism action specific understanding structure–activity relation. At last, extraction technologies correct isolation molecules, cost-effective way, facilitate scale-up processes their application by industry. This manuscript is aimed at describing fundamental composition studied pave way utilization this underused resource.
