The
exploration
of
bioactive
phytochemical
quantities
two
underutilized
Sri
Lankan
seaweeds
Ulva
lactuca
(UL)
and
fasciata
(UF)
revealed
significant
phenolic,
flavonoid,
ulvan,
carotenoid,
chlorophyll,
tannin,
saponin,
alkaloid
contents,
DPPH
radical
scavenging
activities.
To
evaluate
their
application
in
developing
seaweed
incorporated
cereal-based
functional
snacks,
wheat
crackers
were
formulated
using
0%
(control),
2%,
4%
powder
as
a
flour
replacement.
Developed
had
elevated
sensory
acceptability,
protein,
ash
contents
activities,
confirming
the
capacity

UF
utilization
producing
potentially
snacks
with
improved
nutritional
attributes.

Alkaloids
are
nitrogen-containing
heterocyclic
compounds

plants.

the

Based
on

classified
as

indoles,

etc.

have
revealed
antibacterial
activities.
To
date,

to
widespread
use
antibiotics,
problem
drug-resistant
bacterial
infections
has
been
gradually
increasing,
which
severely
affects
clinical
efficacy
therapies
patient
safety.
Therefore,
significant
research
efforts
focused

are

Abstract
Macroalgae
have
been
recently
used
for
different
applications
in
the
food,
cosmetic
and
pharmaceutical
industry
since
they
do
not
compete
land
freshwater
against
other
resources.
Moreover,

a
potential
source
of
bioactive
compounds.
Red
algae
(Rhodophyta)
are
largest
group
seaweeds,
including
around
6000
species,
thus
it
can
be
hypothesized
that
Sulfated
polysaccharides,
mainly
agar
carrageenans,
most
relevant
exploited
compounds

algae.
Other
molecules
essential
fatty
acids,
phycobiliproteins,
vitamins,
minerals,
secondary
metabolites.
All
these
demonstrated

exert
several
biological
activities,
among
which
antioxidant,
anti-inflammatory,
antitumor,
