Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifaceted developmental condition that commonly appears during early childhood. The etiology of ASD remains multifactorial and not yet fully understood. identification biomarkers may provide insights into the underlying mechanisms pathophysiology disorder. present study aimed to explore causes by investigating key biomedical markers, trace elements, microbiota factors between children with autism control subjects.

The role of the gut microbiome in mental health has been great interest past years, with several breakthroughs happening last decade. Its implications psychiatric disorders, namely anxiety, depression, autism and schizophrenia, are highlighted. In this review were included relevant studies on rodents, as well human studies. There seems to be a connection between these pathologies, link being emphasized both rodents humans. results obtained murine models align acquired from patients; however, fewer regarding anxiety conducted process sequencing analyzing humans for other pathologies mentioned above. Additionally, possible beneficial probiotics postbiotics administered an aid medication was analyzed.

Rett syndrome (RTT) is a neurological disorder that mostly affects females, with frequency of 1 in 10,000 to 20,000 live birth cases. Symptoms include stereotyped hand movements; impaired learning, language, and communication skills; sudden loss speech; reduced lifespan; retarded growth; disturbance sleep breathing; seizures; autism; gait apraxia. Pneumonia the most common cause death for patients syndrome, survival rate 77.8% at 25 years age. Survival into fifth decade typical leading cardiorespiratory compromise. progression has multiple stages; however, phenotypes are associated nervous system brain. In total, 95% cases due mutations MECP2 gene, an X-linked gene encodes methyl CpG binding protein, regulator expression. this review, we summarize recent developments field therapeutics targeting MECP2.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental characterized by social communication and interaction problems. The prevalence of ASD increasing globally, with higher ratio males to females. Gastrointestinal symptoms are common in individuals ASD, gut microbiota has been implicated the disorder's development. This study aimed investigate alteration Thai compared healthy controls using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. influence gender age on composition function was also examined. A total 65 30 neurotypical (NT) were included analysis. results revealed notable differences between NT groups, variations observed microbial richness presence enriched taxa. These influenced both age. Fusobacteriota, Fusobacteriaceae, Fusobacterium found be ASD. Furthermore, identified gender-related taxa, such as Bacteroides plebeius, Age-related including Veillonella, known associated poor oral hygiene, children. analysis differentially abundant pathways highlighted enrichment various metabolic those related endocrine-disrupting chemicals. findings underscore importance considering when studying They provide valuable insights into potential role dysbiosis pathogenesis highlight environmental factors.

Emerging evidence has highlighted that altered gut microbiota are associated with the onset and progression of depression via regulating gut-brain axis. However, existing research predominantly focused on children adults, frequently neglecting adolescent depression. Given rising prevalence substantial impact functional impairment suicidality, it is essential to focus more this age group. In study, we examined fecal inflammatory profiles 99 depressed adolescents 106 age-matched healthy controls using Illumina NovaSeq sequencing multiplex immunoassays, respectively. Our findings revealed lower bacterial α-diversity richness, alongside β-diversity in Gut dysbiosis was characterized by increased pro-inflammatory genera such as Streptococcus decreased anti-inflammatory like Faecalibacterium. These differential may serve potential non-invasive biomarkers for depression, either individually or combination. We also observed disruptions inferred functions depression-associated microbiota, particularly glycolysis gluconeogenesis. Additionally, exhibited systemic immune dysfunction, elevated levels cytokines chemokines, which showed significant correlations genera. study bridges gap between adults providing new insights into characteristics their links system adolescents, offer targets diagnosis treatment

Introduction The pathogenesis of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is thought to be multifactorial, with a potential role for the bidirectional communication between gut microbiome and brain development function. Since “golden-standard” medication therapy methylphenidate (MPH) linked multiple adverse effects, there need alternative treatment options such as dietary polyphenols. These secondary plant metabolites exert antioxidant anti-inflammatory but much less known about their impact on microbiota. polyphenols are believed modulate microbial composition, interventions might advantageous in ADHD therapy. Therefore, intervention studies investigating composition highly relevant. Methods Besides primary research questions addressed previously, this study explored prebiotic effect polyphenol-rich French Maritime Pine Bark Extract (PBE) compared MPH placebo pediatric patients by studying microbiota via amplicon sequencing full length 16S rRNA gene ribosomal subunit (V1-V9). Results One interesting finding was high relative abundance Bifidobacteria among all our cohort. Moreover, has identified that (placebo, PBE) explains 3.94% variation distribution taxa (adjusted p -value 0.011). Discussion Our small sample size (placebo: n = 10; PBE: 13 MPH: 14) did not allow observe clear effects treated PBE. Notwithstanding limitation, subtle changes were noticeable some limited compositional could observed. Clinical Trial Registration doi: 10.1186/S13063-017-1879-6
