Abstract The prevalence of centenarians, people who lived 100 years and longer, is steadily growing in the last decades. This exceptional longevity based on multifaceted processes influenced by a combination intrinsic extrinsic factors such as sex, (epi-)genetic factors, gut microbiota, cellular metabolism, exposure to oxidative stress, immune status, cardiovascular risk environmental lifestyle behavior. Epidemiologically, incidence rate diseases reduced healthy centenarians along with late onset age-related compared general aged population. Understanding mechanisms that affect vascular ageing underlying could offer valuable insights for developing strategies improve overall life span elderly. review discusses these key influencing how their modulation foster longevity.

Antibiotic resistance presents a critical challenge in healthcare, particularly among the elderly, where multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) contribute to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. This review focuses on mechanisms underlying key bacterial pathogens highlights how aging-related factors like immunosenescence, frailty, multimorbidity increase burden of infections from MDROs this population. Novel strategies mitigate include development next-generation antibiotics teixobactin cefiderocol, innovative therapies such as bacteriophage therapy antivirulence treatments, implementation antimicrobial stewardship programs optimize antibiotic use. Furthermore, advanced molecular diagnostic techniques, including nucleic acid amplification tests sequencing, allow for faster more precise identification resistant pathogens. Vaccine development, through approaches multi-epitope vaccines nanoparticle-based platforms, holds promise preventing MDRO elderly. The role machine learning (ML) predicting patterns aiding vaccine is also explored, offering promising solutions personalized treatment prevention By integrating cutting-edge diagnostics, therapeutic innovations, ML-based approaches, underscores importance multidisciplinary efforts address global aging populations.

Obesity, chronic pain, and aging are prevalent global challenges with profound implications for health well-being. Central to these processes adrenal hormones, particularly cortisol dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), along its sulfated form (DHEAS). Cortisol, essential stress adaptation, can have adverse effects on pain perception when dysregulated, while DHEA/S possess properties that may mitigate effects. This review explores the roles of in contexts obesity, acute aging, age-related diseases. We examine hormonal balance, specifically cortisol-to-DHEA ratio (CDR), as a key marker system functionality impact sensitivity, neurodegeneration, physical decline. Elevated CDR decreased levels associated worsened outcomes, including increased frailty, immune dysfunction, progression conditions such osteoporosis Alzheimer’s disease. synthesizes current literature highlight complex interplay between hormones their broader health. It aims provide insights into potential future therapies improve management promote healthy weight aging. By investigating mechanisms, this work contributes deeper understanding physiological intersections endocrine system.

Aim. To analyze existing data on the impact of mutations in human genome pathogenesis respiratory viral infections and to discuss their relevance clinical practice. The primary objectives include describing mechanisms genetic mutations, reviewing examples genes that affect susceptibility disease severity evaluating prospects for testing personalized medicine.Research factors influencing demonstrates significant progression outcomes. For instance, IFITM3 gene, which plays a crucial role limiting influenza virus replication, along with its rs12252‐C polymorphism, is linked severe cases influenza. Similarly, TLR7 gene are associated manifestations COVID‐19, particularly males. These findings underscore importance identify individuals at heightened risk emphasize potential medicine enhance patient Additionally, it essential consider interplay between environmental as well social determinants health. This review examines influence progression. It can significantly course these infections. integrating into practice efficiency diagnosis, prognosis treatment emphasized.

Strongyloides stercoralis is a neglected soil-transmitted helminth endemic in tropical and subtropical regions. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, risk factors, spatial distribution of S. infection rural villages Khon Kaen Province, Northeastern Thailand. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 260 participants from 201 households across five randomly selected villages. Stool samples were analysed using agar plate culture formalin-ethyl acetate concentration techniques, soil assessed for DNA by PCR physicochemical properties including pH, porosity, bulk density, moisture, organic matter, nitrate. The prevalence 16.15%, with detecting 41 cases (15.77%) compared 12 (4.62%) techniques. highest observed Norng Thungmon village (31.80%). Risk factors included male gender, older age, being head household, living homes earthen floors, walking barefoot, proximity water sources. Soil 169 revealed an detection rate 8.3% via PCR. Positive predominantly Huachang Don Du Spatial analysis identified significant clustering infections within high-risk areas. properties, measured, though no correlations found rates. In conclusion, remains health concern but Kaen, identifiable human environmental factors. Enhanced education, improved sanitation, targeted interventions are essential reducing transmission

Aging is a complex, progressive, and irreversible biological process that entails numerous structural functional changes in the organism. These affect all bodily systems, reducing their ability to respond adapt environment. Chronic inflammation one of key factors driving development age-related diseases, ultimately causing substantial decline abilities older individuals. This persistent inflammatory state (commonly known as “inflammaging”) characterized by elevated levels pro-inflammatory cytokines, an increase oxidative stress, perturbation immune homeostasis. Several factors, including cellular senescence, contribute this milieu, thereby amplifying conditions such cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration, metabolic disorders. Exploring mechanisms chronic aging essential for developing targeted interventions aimed at promoting healthy aging. review explains strong connection between inflammation, highlighting potential therapeutic approaches like pharmacological treatments, dietary strategies, lifestyle changes.
