Fungi, as the unique natural resource, are rich in polysaccharides, proteins, fats, vitamins, and other components. Therefore, they have good medical nutritional values. Polysaccharides considered one of most important bioactive components fungi. Many chronic diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular are closely related to in vivo oxidative stress caused by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS). Natural polysaccharides, a kind of biomacromolecule with good biocompatibility, have been widely used biomedical medicinal applications due their superior antioxidant properties. In this review, scientometric analysis the highly cited papers Web Science (WOS) database finds that activity is most studied popular among pharmacological effects natural polysaccharides. The mechanisms polysaccharides mainly contain regulation signal transduction pathways, activation enzymes, scavenging free radicals. We continuously discuss activities derivatives. At same time, we summarize field pharmaceutics/drug delivery, tissue engineering, antimicrobial food additives/packaging materials.
