Beyond brain deficits caused by strokes, the effectiveness of neurorehabilitation is strongly influenced baseline clinical features stroke patients, including a patient’s current nutritional status. Malnutrition, either as pre-stroke existing condition or occurring because ischemic injury, predisposes patients to poor rehabilitation outcomes. On other hand, proper status compliant with specific needs required process recovery plays key role in post-stroke rehabilitative outcome favoring neuroplasticity mechanisms. Oxidative stress and inflammation play stroke-associated malnutrition, well cascade events area, where damage leads neuronal death infarction, and, via cell-to-cell signaling, alteration processes underlying functional induced multidisciplinary treatment. Nutrition strategies based on food components oxidative anti-inflammatory properties may help reverse stop malnutrition be prerequisite for supporting ability plasticity result satisfactory patients. To expand recommendations recovery, studies considering evolution changes over time are required. The assessment must included routine tool settings integrated care stroke-patients.

Abstract Mediterranean diet includes fermented dairy products like yogurt and cheese. These foods provide calcium, phosphorus, fat, carbohydrates protein, all nutrients influencing various systems including bone, cardiovascular system, intermediary metabolism, cancer, central nervous inflammation. In addition, they contain prebiotics probiotics which are capable of modifiying microbiota composition potentially acting also indirectly on the systems. A large body evidence indicates that consumption significantly contributes to beneficial effects a systems’ health.

Importance Adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (MedDiet) has been associated with a lower incidence of cancer and reduced weight gain. These associations suggest potential role for MedDiet in lowering risk obesity-related cancers (ORCs). Obesity is known factor various shows an inverse association adherence. Objective To examine between adherence ORCs, considering possible mediating adiposity. Design, Setting, Participants This prospective cohort study analyzed data from European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer Nutrition (EPIC) study, which enrolled participants aged 35 70 years 1992 2000 across 23 centers 10 countries. The analysis was conducted March 1 May 31, 2023. Exposures Dietary intake before baseline evaluated using country-specific, validated questionnaires administered at recruitment. scored on 9-point scale categorized as low (0-3 points), medium (4-6 or high (7-9 points). Main Outcomes Measures primary outcome classified according 2015 International Agency Research criteria. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models were used assess ORC incidence. Mediation analyses evaluate waist hip ratio body mass index this association. Results A total 450 111 included (mean [SD] age, 51.1 [9.8] years; 70.8% women) followed up during median (IQR) time 14.9 (4.1) years. Among participants, 4.9% experienced (rates, 0.053, 0.049, 0.043 per person-year low, medium, groups, respectively). points) had compared those (hazard [HR], 0.94; 95% CI, 0.90-0.98). similar observed points vs 0-3 However, mediation did not show risk. Conclusions Relevance findings indicate that higher modest reduction independent adiposity measures. Further research needed clarify mechanisms by may contribute prevention.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a growing disabling condition affecting around 280 million people worldwide. This complex entity the result of interplay between biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors, compelling evidence suggests that MDD can be considered disease occurs as consequence an evolutionary mismatch unhealthy lifestyle habits. In this context, diet one core pillars health, influencing multiple biological processes in brain entire body. It seems there bidirectional relationship malnutrition, depressed individuals often lack certain critical nutrients along with aberrant dietary pattern. Thus, interventions are most promising tools to explore field MDD, specific group (i.e., omega 3, vitamins, polyphenols, caffeine), foods (fish, nuts, seeds fruits, vegetables, coffee/tea, fermented products) or supplements (such S-adenosylmethionine, acetyl carnitine, creatine, amino acids, etc.), which being currently studied. Likewise, nutritional context pattern seem another potential area study, some strategies such Mediterranean have demonstrated relevant benefits patients MDD; although, further efforts still needed. present work, we will state-of-the-art prevention clinical support focusing on properties its main nutrients, foods, patterns their possible implications for these patients.

Background: The global prevalence of childhood obesity has grown sharply in recent decades. Obesity is considered a public health problem which directly affects the status children numerous ways. To combat this trend, integrated approaches are necessary to prevent obesity. Strategies require comprehensive perspective at individual and parental level alongside adoption measures engage community environment. Summary: Prevention addressed as crucial limiting pediatric epidemic long term. Breastfeeding appropriate complementary feeding recognized early dietary factors that affect future risk development during first 2 years life. During adolescence, patterns, eating habits, portion size, frequencies, family meals important target for preventive strategies, well parenting style influenced by parents’ education. Physical activity promotion reduction sedentary behavior also recommended. adherence families prevention programs highly dependent on socioeconomic factors. Moreover, setting food quality standards policies promote healthy lifestyle habits strongly advocated. implementation cost-effective strategies high priority requires an approach healthcare services. All stakeholders involved should take active role supporting empowering order cope with multifactorial complex disease.
