Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative process responsible for almost 70% of all cases dementia. The clinical signs consist in progressive and irreversible loss memory, cognitive, behavioral functions. main histopathological hallmark the accumulation amyloid-ß (Aß) peptide fibrils brain. To date, origin Aß has not been determined. Recent studies have shown that gut microbiota produces Aß, dysbiotic states identified AD patients animal models AD. Starting from hypothesis maintaining or restoring microbiota’s eubiosis essential to control Aß’s production deposition brain, we used mixture probiotics prebiotics (symbiotic) treat APPPS1 male female mice, an model AD, 2 8 months age evaluated their cognitive performances, mucus secretion, Aβ serum concentration, composition. results showed treatment was able prevent memory deficits, reduced increased blood levels, imbalance found mice. present study demonstrates gut–brain axis plays critical role genesis impairment, modulation can ameliorate AD’s symptomatology.

Psychobiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer mental health benefits to the host. Several clinical studies have demonstrated significant from psychobiotic administration, making them an emerging topic food science. Certain strains of Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Streptococcus, Escherichia, and Enterococcus species known for their ability modulate gut-brain axis provide benefits. Proposed action mechanisms include production neuroactive compounds or precursors, which may cross blood-brain barrier, transported by extracellular vesicles. Abstract Depression is one of the most common psychiatric conditions worldwide, with an annual escalation in prevalence. The serotonin (5‐Hydroxytryptamine [5‐HT]) metabolism through gut–brain axis has been revealed to be related development depression. Our previous study demonstrated that Lactococcus lactis WHH2078 alleviated depression mice by shaping gut microbiome composition and 5‐HT metabolism. However, little research explored synergistic effects probiotics natural mental health‐improving products. In this study, three products (saffron, l ‐theanine, phosphatidylserine), either individually or combination, were orally administrated for 4 weeks chronic restraint stress (CRS)‐induced mice, their depressive behaviors, hippocampal 5‐HT, serum corticosterone assessed. Saffron improvement depressive‐like behaviors via multiple behavioral tests reversed declined concentration increased corticosterone. Following initial screening, saffron was chosen combined WHH2078, referred as WHHMOOD™. Furthermore, WHHMOOD evaluated behaviors. reduced immobility time forced swimming test tail suspension test, spent central area open field level. Besides, improved CRS‐induced microbial dysbiosis reversing diversity abundances Ligilactobacillus, Candidatus Arthromitus , Erysipelatoclostridium . Compared treatment significantly travel distance level mice. conclusion, exhibited prophylactic on CRS which may act a promising agent improving symptoms
