Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a severe condition in preterm infants, involving intestinal inflammation and bacterial invasion, leading to high morbidity mortality. Probiotics may reduce NEC by promoting beneficial gut bacteria, but the role of Bifidobacterium bifidum G001 (BBG001) not well understood. This meta-analysis evaluates effectiveness BBG001 versus placebo preventing NEC, late-onset sepsis, all-cause mortality infants. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we conducted systematic review randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from 2014 2024. Databases searched included PubMed, Cochrane Central Register, MEDLINE, EMBASE. Inclusion criteria encompassed RCTs infants (<37 weeks gestation and/or <2500 g birth weight) receiving enteral probiotics, including BBG001, compared placebo. Outcomes assessed were incidence (≥stage II), Data extraction quality assessment independently performed. From 430 identified records, nine studies 7180 met inclusion criteria. significantly reduced risk stage >2 (OR = 0.66; 95% CI [0.47, 0.94], p .02), 0.74; [0.62, 0.89], .001), sepsis 0.71; [0.53, 0.93], .01). Probiotic supplementation with appears effective incidence, bloodstream infections, deaths Despite promising results, variability study designs necessitates further large-scale confirm these findings establish BBG001's neonatal care.

Microbial colonization of the neonatal gut is pivotal in priming infant's immune system. Human milk (HM) best nutrition for infants and supports development microbiota due to prebiotic compounds probiotic microorganisms. When exclusive breastfeeding not possible, infant formula (IF) with probiotics a strategy support microbiome development. However, knowledge about effects different IF on individual strains limited, as strain-level detection complex ecosystem challenging. The aim present study was show protein forms metabolic activity two isolated from HM ecosystem.

Abstract Background: A mother's microbiota, including that in her gut, vagina, and breast milk, plays a big role baby's health. Imbalances this microbiota can lead to problems during pregnancy. Several things affect how gets passed down newborn. Objective:investigating the factors affecting passage of from mother baby, see milk bacteria breastfeeding influence types newborn's gut. Methods: This is cross sectional study aimed assess impact on neonatal intestinal Microbiota. The was carried out total 40 mother-infant pairs. 8 had normal vaginal delivery 32 caesarean section delivery. All participants met our collection criteria. Ethical considerations, history taking, examination were done. Mother's samples collected sterile units preserved at minus 18 celsius (oC) freezer. Neonatal stool using protocol containers. Stool not analyzed immediately stored 80 oC specimens mothers subjected Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) extraction real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) microbiota. Results conclusion: most participated neonates males. Most obese, good hygiene, lived urban places. Cesarean frequent (80.0%) mode Bifido abundant type found both neonates’ followed by Strept. Staph. Neonates with positive significantly higher gestational age. A significant association between presence feeding found. antibiotics administration, either infants or their mothers, negatively associated bacteria. Our results indicated age, weight, sex showed no any three milk.

Human milk is the best nutrition for infants, providing optimal support developing immune system and gut microbiota. Hence, it has been used as source probiotic strain isolation, including members of genus Bifidobacterium, in an effort to provide beneficial effects infants who cannot be exclusively breastfed. However, not all supplemented bifidobacteria can effectively colonise infant gut, nor confer health benefits individual host; therefore, new isolates are needed develop a range dietary products this specific age group. Here, we investigated potential Bifidobacterium breve DSM 32583 isolated from human milk. We show that vitro B. exhibited several characteristics considered fundamental bacteria, survival conditions simulating those present digestive tract, adherence epithelial cell lines, inhibition growth potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Its antibiotic resistance patterns were comparable known bifidobacterial strains, its genome did contain plasmids virulence-associated genes. These results suggest candidate.
