Despite Corylus avellana L. being an economically important shrub species known for its resilience to adverse environmental conditions, it constantly faces attacks from a plethora of biotic entities. Among these, the mite pest Phytoptus avellanae is gaining importance, causing economic losses every year. This colonises new generative and vegetative buds, leading them become swollen reddish, drastically reducing hazelnut production. The biology behind gall formation still poorly understood. study provides qualitative quantitative description microbiome in both healthy infested buds two cultivars through metabarcoding fungal ITS bacterial 16 S. Potentially pathogenic genera such as Fusarium Pseudomonas were predominant along with obligate intracellular genus Wolbachia. Akanthomyces muscarius was instead isolated culture-based methods only buds. These findings could improve understanding ecology, supporting management populations, they also serve milestone further studies on low-impact, monitoring-driven, genetically targeted control strategies.

Numerous concerns associated with the use of synthetic pesticides have led to important initiatives aimed at ensuring eco-friendly practices in pest and disease control. Third-generation pesticides, biopesticides, become a key factor those efforts, capturing attention researchers worldwide. To evaluate trends biopesticide research over past three decades, bibliometric analysis was performed on bibliographic data sourced from Web Science database. This included metrics such as publication dynamics, types documents, assessments fields categories. Co-authorship, citation, co-occurrence networks were visualized using VOSviewer software identify collaboration patterns, influential publications, emerging topics, interdisciplinary connections. A total 5054 publications topic ‘biopesticide’ found (1994–2024), nearly half which published last five years. Out 136 contributing countries, USA, People’s Republic China, India produced most while 19,676 authors contributed least one paper throughout entire examined period. The identification frequently used keywords highlighted significant topics within biopesticide-related earliest recent, aiding our understanding developmental trajectory opportunities for future exploration.

Abstract As core constituents of healthy diets, fruits are often cultivated in temporally stable and structurally complex ecosystems that harbor high levels biodiversity. However, high-intensity orchard management can lessen the human environmental health benefits fruticulture. In present article, we argue increased emphasis on biological control could contribute to preventative fruit pests, weeds, diseases, resulting pesticide phasedown. Carefully calibrated increase provision ecosystem services by above- belowground biota, improve soil health, store atmospheric carbon. When tactically integrated with agroecological measures, behavior-modifying chemicals, or digital tools, helps conserve pollinator fauna, protect vertebrate communities, vegetation restoration outcomes. Its implementation can, however, give rise scientific social challenges will need be explored. By resolving adoption hurdles for at scale, society enjoy myriad nature-friendly production.

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is a major threat to worldwide tomato production, and sustainable management methods are needed. Betabaculovirus phoperculellae (PhopGV) the parasitoid wasp Necremnus tutae Ribes & Bernardo (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) were identified as promising biocontrol agents of this pest. Since virus most effective against first instar larvae, whereas targets older ones, combining both could result in increased pest control. We conducted replicated semi-field experiment evaluate control efficacy N. PhopGV when used alone combination T. their compatibility over an entire growth period. Combining two achieved highest larval (−24 %) crop damage (−29 reduction cumulated experiment. However, there was no significant additive effect agents. At end trial, which coincided with emergence third generation adults, using resulted strongest adult density (−78 %), followed by virus-parasitoid (−59 %). No negative recorded on population. Our results demonstrate potential reduce population under conditions. While more research needed, our findings provide important insights into innovative agents, thereby contributing agriculture.

Abstract Invasive alien insects have the potential to pose a significant threat global agriculture, with their distinctive traits enabling rapid reproduction, successful adaptation new environments and high distribution capability. These pests can devastate crops, livestock, biodiversity ecosystem functioning, resulting in ecological damage substantial economic losses. Climate change plays crucial role driving invasion of these pests, creating favorable conditions for development, negatively impacting biodiversity. Among invasive insects, fall armyworm (FAW) ( Spodoptera frugiperda ) (JE Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) has emerged as major pest species, causing yield losses maize cropping outside his native range. Initially, reliance on pesticides control proved ineffective led pesticide resistance. Significant progress been made implementing integrated management (IPM) strategies that integrate agro-ecological biological approaches. This review article focuses compilation IPM methods, combining practices agents such parasitoids viruses, effective FAW. Approaches intercropping, agronomic practices, use viruses shown promising results controlling provides insights into recommendations suggestions sustainable FAW using or combination.
