The recent geopolitical events, such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, have strained available resources worldwide. In emerging economies like Bangladesh, which is heavily reliant on imported gas, oil, coal, this has created a severe energy crisis. response to crisis support eco-friendly waste management, converting into being recognized promising solution. However, introducing waste-to-energy systems in developing faces many intricate challenges that require careful examination. This study, therefore, aims explore evaluate associated with adopting (WtE) conversion system Bangladesh. research methodology involves identifying from an extensive review of existing literature expert feedback then combining Bayesian theory Best Worst Method (BWM) challenges. Among 21 analyzed, 'need for well-developed planning incentivized policymaking', 'ineffectiveness segregation at source', 'high cost installation, maintenance, infrastructure development' appear be most significant weight values 0.071, 0.067, 0.066, respectively. study can enhance managers' understanding faced by sector thus facilitate informed decision-making. outcomes are expected enrich body knowledge, promote diffusion WtE technology economies, reduce dependency international market, achieve global sustainable development goals (SDGs) affordable clean (SDG 7), cities communities 11), climate action 13).

Abstract Background The main goal of the paper is to review existing state and propose a model solution for introduction waste-to-energy concept in Republic Serbia Bosnia Herzegovina, as these Balkan countries are source high pollution due inefficient use fossil fuels operation coal-fired power plants. Besides, have very low level waste management, which results uncontrolled disposal large amount consists plastic microplastic materials difficult decompose natural ecosystems. Methods Considering type objectives study, mixed research method was chosen combination exploratory research, descriptive explanatory modeling. Results result shows unfavorable situation field management Serbia, well Herzegovina. Both adopted adequate strategies plans, but not implemented accordingly, Nevertheless, numerous problems create considerable opportunities improvement, especially regarding potential energy production from waste, an important approach implementing circular economy model. study showed that particularly rural areas. Hence, proposes (a) novel governance (b) done, models were developed based on examples However, can be used with similar larger share Conclusions emphasizes importance holistic systemic emphasis using applicable transition economy. This review tries to differ from the existing reviews on potential of chlor-alkali technology in regulating energy for environmental remediation through hydrogen-based storage. Currently, green energies are at a very high readiness level, but fitting demand and production is not solved issue. Direct application treatments inefficient, particularly electrokinetic because reversibility. Hydrogen-based storage shows promise, despite water management challenges electrolyzers, especially drought-prone regions like Mediterranean countries. suggests adapting industrial contexts as less water-demanding alternative. It also adaptability contrasting it with faced by fuel cells due chlorine's corrosive effects. concludes that sustainable solution proposed involves synergistic electrolysis PEM using oxygen instead chlorine, benefiting industry affected electricity price increases. Byproducts chlorine caustic soda can be repurposed or commercial purposes.

The consistent rise of the per capita waste generation rate has led to an escalation quantities and need expand disposal methods. Efforts develop clean affordable energy systems are increasingly linked waste-to-energy as part transition a circular economy (CE). A resource-efficient business model within CE offers variety environmentally friendly management options based on their overall environmental impacts but also makes efficient use available resources technologies convert different types into energy, which helps reduce adverse effects environment create additional sources. This research aims identify innovative solutions foster implementation more model. methodology is qualitative quantitative research, triangulation, material flow assessment, dynamics. value this study analysis existing plant case studies set recommendations appropriate models for countries that at early stage evaluation such facilities. found plants critical achieving EU’s targets by 2035. findings highlight importance supporting mechanisms in sector, structural funds, industry primarily focuses societal health safety protection, alongside resource efficiency circularity potential.

Cities in developing countries continue to struggle with mounting waste management challenges. Within a circular economy framework, energy recovery is mostly nonexistent. Against that background, this study aimed design and assess the viability of hybrid waste-to-energy facility for Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Ghana by 2030. The proposed plant integrates solar PV, anaerobic digestion pyrolysis treat unsegregated municipal solid waste. Three cases were developed different product combinations. Material flow analysis was performed STAN software 2.7.101. results indicate 1.6 million tons MSW will be generated, potentially converted 271 GWh electricity, 6400 hydrogen or 4400 bio-compressed natural gas per year, along additional products: compost, refuse-derived fuel bio-oil. economic indicators show all are viable terms net present value (EUR 397 1030 million), internal rate return (14–22%) levelized cost (0.11–0.18 EUR/kWh). As such, proves solution large metropolitan areas, potential supply energy, alternative fuels material products within economy, though it requires buy-in policy makers.

The problem of food being wasted in households has become an essential challenge recent years. Food waste can be valorized accordance with the principles sustainable development, including as a source energy. This study analyses potential anaerobic fermentation, pyrolysis, ethanol incineration, and composting to treat waste, focusing on its energy yield. research considered two scenarios for generating Poland both near term (2030) long (2050). Scenarios were proposed regions different levels urbanization demographic trends. criteria selection technologies energy-efficient processing from identified, taking into account current state these technologies, their prospective changes, nature regions, trajectory generation, spatial generation rate, potential. Technologies like methane fermentation thermochemical methods should developed densely populated areas high rate. Among processes, fast pyrolysis will provide most significant benefits, followed by moderate biocarbonization—at similar levels. Incineration is placed between carbonization gasification. In less lower rates, combining substrates co-processing green considered. Biocarbonization systems integrated rural regions.
