Efficient characterization of wastewater stream quality is vital to ensure the safe discharge or reuse treated (WW). There are numerous parameters employed characterize water quality, some required by directives (e.g. biological oxygen demand (BOD), total nitrogen (TN), phosphates (TP)), while others used for process controls flow, temperature, pH). Well-accepted methods assess these have traditionally been laboratory-based, taking place either off-line at-line, and presenting a significant delay between sampling result. Alternative can run in-line on-line, generally being more cost-effective. Unfortunately, often not accepted when providing information regulatory bodies. The current review aims describe available laboratory-based approaches compare them with innovative real-time (RT) solutions. Transitioning from RT measurements means obtaining valuable data, avoiding time delays, possibility optimize (WW) treatment management. A variety sensor categories examined illustrate general framework in which applications replace longer conventional processes, an eye toward potential drawbacks. enhancement be achieved through employment advanced soft-sensing techniques Internet Things (IoT), coupled machine learning (ML) artificial intelligence (AI).

Groundwater in the northeast region of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, has been contaminated by various pollutants, resulting from human activities, altering its physico-chemical properties. This area's geological composition, dominated Aravalli chain, contains abundant minerals. They analyzed 42 water samples using an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) and compared results with standards set BIS (10500:2012), ICMR (Indian Council Medical Research), WHO (World Health Organization). In this region, extraction iron copper ores HCL led to significantly elevated concentrations these minerals groundwater across all sampling stations. The higher concentration Cu was found at 4.1 mg/L chirawa tehsil. The levels exceed permissible limits (10500:2012) WHO.Manganese undetected sites.Although are trace elements, their high pose substantial health risks, including cardiovascular issues, methemoglobinemia (blue baby syndrome), respiratory conditions such as asthma. This highlights a serious hazard area.

Abstract The quantity and quality of surface water are inherently connected yet overwhelmingly studied separately in the field remote sensing. Remotely observable (e.g., extent, elevation, lake/reservoir volume, river discharge) color, turbidity, total suspended solids, chlorophyll a , colored dissolved organic matter, temperature) parameters inland waterbodies interact through series hydrological biogeochemical processes. In this review, we analyzed trends sensing publications to understand prevalence studies on versus open‐surface (rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs) as well identified opportunities for integrating both future work. Our bibliometric analysis found that despite increasing number using waterbodies, few date have used tools or approaches simultaneously study quality. Ultimately, by providing insights into potential integration studies, aim identify pathway advance understanding dynamics freshwater resources This article is categorized under: Water Life > Methods Science Quality Nature Freshwater Ecosystems

Rural communities in Jordan face challenges providing centralized wastewater treatment system due to high costs and dispersed populations. To address this issue, a decentralized approach is explored as an alternative extend unserved rural areas. In study, was implemented household Al-Kfair village, Jerash governorate, Jordan. The consists of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor followed by unplanted Vertical Flow Constructed Wetland. first reactor, with capacity 0.142 m3, received greywater from the at influent flow rate 0.295 m3/d. system's performance evaluated based on removal efficiencies compliance Jordanian standards for reclaimed reuse irrigation. Influent effluent samples were analyzed various parameters, including Chemical Oxygen Demand, Biological Total Solids, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Escherichia coli. Results indicated excellent efficiency, rates exceeding 90% most parameters. implementation single amounted $3405. overall combined demonstrated its potential effective solution treating

Remote sensing plays a crucial role in modeling surface water quality parameters (WQPs), which aids spatial and temporal variation assessment. However, existing models are often developed independently, leading to uncertainty regarding their applicability. This study focused on two primary objectives. First, it aimed evaluate different for chemical oxygen demand (COD), total phosphorus (TP), nitrogen (TN), suspended solids (TSS) body, the J. A. Alzate dam, Mexican highland region (R2 ≥ 0.78 RMSE ≤ 16.1 mg/L). The were estimated using multivariate regressions, with focus identifying dilution dragging effects inter-annual flow rate estimations, including runoff from precipitation municipal discharges. Second, sought analyze potential scope of application these other bodies by comparing mean WQP values. Several exhibited similarities, minimal differences values (ranging −9.5 0.57 mg/L) TSS, TN, TP. These findings suggest that certain may be compatible enough warrant exploration joint future research endeavors. By addressing objectives, this contributes better understanding suitability remote sensing-based characterizing quality, both within specific locations across bodies.

This research devised an efficient method to treat wastewater generated from heparin production at a local Taiwanese company. The approach combined electrochemical techniques with filtration processes manage the wastewater, which exhibited high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), organic matter, and chlorine concentration, requiring treatment before disposal or potential reuse. A specialized oxidation (EO) system was customized for processing 500 mL solution 2A current, working in tandem activated carbon filter chamber. Various experiments were conducted, altering adsorption times, understand their correlation eliminating identified pollutants pharmaceutical wastewater. Notably, sample 4 (S4), following electrolysis process 2A-12V 5 h subsequent by 10 g 60 min, remarkable efficacy. Specifically, this regime facilitated removal over 90 % (from 14750 1422 mg/L) 91 1.12 0.09 a.u.) turbidity, 88 22676 2786 COD effluent stream. These favorable outcomes attributed conversion ions into hypochlorous acid, renowned its potent antibacterial properties compounds, as well robust capabilities carbon. study underscores viability employing surface tandem, utilizing low input currents brief durations, effectively.
