Summary The rapid propagation of novel human coronavirus 2019 and its emergence as a pandemic raising morbidity calls for taking more appropriate measures improvement present diagnostic techniques which are time‐consuming, labour‐intensive non‐portable. In this scenario, biosensors can be considered means to outmatch customary deliver point‐of‐care diagnostics many diseases in much better way owing their speed, cost‐effectiveness, accuracy, sensitivity selectivity. Besides this, these have been aptly used detect wide spectrum viruses thus facilitating timely delivery correct therapy. review is an attempt analyse such different kinds that implemented virus detection. Recently, the field nanotechnology has given great push by development smart miniaturised nanobiosensors enhanced procedure taken it new level. portability, hardiness affordability nanobiosensor make them apt agent including SARS‐CoV‐2. role diagnosis SARS‐CoV‐2 also addressed comprehensively review. Along with challenges future position developing ultrasensitive should into consideration before declaring nano‐weapons ideal futuristic gold standard accounted here.

COVID-19 pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become world's largest public health emergency of past few decades. Thousands mutations were identified in SARS-CoV-2 genome. Some mutants are more infectious and may replace original strains. Recently, B.1.1.7(Alpha), B1.351(Beta), B.1.617.2(Delta) strains, which appear to have increased transmissibility, detected. These strains accounting for high proportion newly diagnosed cases spread rapidly over world. Particularly, Delta variant been reported account a vast majority infections several countries last weeks. The application biosensors detection is important control pandemic. Due demand genotyping, it urgent develop reliable efficient systems based on integrated multiple biosensor technology rapid simultaneously. This not only analysis current but also future mutations. Novel combined with other technologies can be used effective mutants.
