Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has become a powerful sample preparation technique which allows to efficiently isolate and enrich analytes from complex matrixes. One of the most widespread SPME modes, consists extraction directly headspace (HS) is equilibrated with sample. In this sense, HS-SPME provides one best platforms for preparation, especially analysis volatile semi-volatile organic compounds. Furthermore, demonstrated be versatile, sensitive, robust, environmentally friendly when applied samples coming diverse variety fields such as bioanalysis, environmental sciences, food cultural heritage. Increasing wastewater production is posing a threat to the safety and cleanliness of water. Adsorbents have been used in various industries remove contaminants from wastewater. In this review, naturally occurring laboratory–synthesized adsorbents, their past recent advancements, future treatment strategies are comprehensively described. Nanomaterials (NMs) extensively as adsorbents due high surface area, porosity, low density, chemical stability. For effective implementation, adsorption capacity NMs optimized. Compared larger counterparts, nanomaterials found higher rate constants, making them more adsorbents. The adverse effects associated with synthesis application these discussed.
