Including grape pomace in goat diets presents a potentially valuable strategy for enhancing the sustainability of farming and mitigating environmental risks. This work aimed to investigate impact dietary dried (DGP) on milk yield, composition fatty acid (FA) profile goats. Gas chromatography was utilised obtain an extensive FA fat. Dry matter intake, as well yield were not altered by DGP. Despite predominance linoleic (LA, 18:2 cis-9,cis-12) lipids DGP presence phenolic compounds, its inclusion diet did negatively affect quantitatively main groups FA. Furthermore, there no significant butyric, caproic, caprylic, capric acids, major 18:1 trans isomers, including vaccenic (18:1 trans-11), LA, α-linolenic (18:3 n-3), long chain polyunsaturated n-6 n-3 However, rumenic fat significantly reduced from 0.36 0.30 g/100 g total methyl esters. study supports that up 6%, can be safely included conventional dairy without compromising production results or altering great extent profile.

Grape pomace (GP), the residue left after grape pressing in winemaking, is rich polyphenols, including flavonoids, tannins, and phenolic acids, which have antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties. The present study aimed to evaluate cardioprotective effects of white (WGP) extract two concentrations polyphenols (795 mg from WGP/kg body weight (bw) 397.5 bw)), on isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction (MI), focusing its effects. White administration for 14 days offered a cardio-protective effect prevented prolongation QT QTc intervals electrocardiogram. Both WGP elevation nitric oxide (NO) malondialdehyde (MDA) serum, with best results being observed highest concentration (p < 0.05). reduction pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), 1β (IL-1β) both serum tissue dose-dependent manner, having Moreover, reduced histological changes associated MI. findings demonstrate that exerts cardio protective by reducing MI-associated inflammation oxidative stress.

Demonstrating the authenticity and traceability of quality wines based on parameters that reflect their composition provenance contributes to protecting wine increasing consumer confidence in moderate consumption, which is associated with numerous health-promoting properties. A wine’s phenolic fingerprint increasingly used assess its authenticity, even though influenced by genetic environmental factors, as well vineyard management enological practices, storage conditions. This study presents a comprehensive analysis bioactive characteristics (total polyphenols—TPs, total flavonoids—TFs, antioxidant activity—AA, anthocyanins—TAs) spectrophotometric compound profile (by UHPLC-HRMS analysis) 19 white 21 red Protected Designation Origin (PDO) from four vineyards located wine-growing region Oltenia, Romania. Multivariate statistical analysis, specifically principal component heat map applied analytical data, enables discrimination grape variety terroir, across consecutive vintages (2019–2022). The profiles obtained under standardized winemaking conditions depend climatic data specific each harvest year (temperature, precipitation, duration sun exposure during berry phenological stages, ripening). biomarkers wines, such epicatechin, catechin, gallic, caffeic, t-ferulic acids, t-resveratrol hesperidin, represent warmer sunnier years lower observed 2021 year. Additionally, our results contribute identification for geographical varietal discrimination, promotion high-quality produced renowned

Vine-growing for the production of wine is one oldest and most important agricultural activities worldwide, but winemaking process leads to vast amounts waste. Viticulture vinification by-products have many bioactive molecules, including polyphenols, prebiotic fibers, organic acids, minerals. While research on specific human health effects grapevine residues (pomace, seeds, barks, stalks, canes, leaves) still ongoing, available data suggest potential positively modulate normal dysbiotic gut microbiota (GM) using polyphenol-rich extracts obtained from winery by-products. This review provides an updated summary in vitro vivo evidence animal models humans concerning ability residue be used as a GM modulator that supports their nutraceutical applications functional ingredient. Additionally, this aims enhance interest viticulture waste (grapevine stems leaves), levels polyphenols are similar those found red grapes or seeds. However, more needed obtain innovative products. The valorization not only environmentally friendly; it can also economically beneficial, creating added-value nutraceuticals new revenue stream producers.

This study examines chemical composition and energy potential distillation stillage, evaluating their suitability for pellet within ENplus® standards. Proximate analysis, elemental calorimetric analysis were conducted on samples two collected in local Distillery Portugal. results reveal that has higher volatile matter content (62.695%) than which, however, lower ash (3.762%) fixed carbon (31.813%). Calorimetric analyses show stillage superior low heating value compared pomace, with values exceeding 19 MJ/kg. Both by-products, exceed limits (≤0.70), nitrogen (≤0.3), sulfur (≤0.04) content, presenting challenges use as high-quality fuel pellets. Combining these biomasses other materials could reduce pollutant improve efficiency. highlights need pre-treatment strategies enhance combustion. The plethora of bio-functional compounds present in fermented alcoholic beverages like wine, as well the valorisation bioactives from wineries’/breweries’ by-products grape pomace and seed, has gained significant interest functional foods sector. This beverage, always accompanied humanity, for religion or health, especially Mediterranean, while benefits its moderate consumption were documented even by Greek physician Hippocrates Kos (460–370 BC). After a big gap, an outbreak research on wine surfaced only since 1990s, when term “French paradox” was introduced to US public during CBS show, recent evidence outlined that beneficial effects are derived synergisms their digestion-derived metabolites. Within this article, proposed health consumption, component balanced diet (i.e., Mediterranean diet) against inflammation-related chronic disorders, is thoroughly reviewed. various both wineries’ by-products, such bioactive phenolics, unsaturated fatty acids, polar lipids dietary fibres, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory antithrombotic health-promoting properties, also evaluated. mechanisms action synergism, which elicited, explored. Functional properties non-alcoholic products introduced. Emphasis given applications bioactives, ingredients foods, supplements nutraceuticals.
