Municipalities play a key role in the local contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, there is still lack of evaluation progress specific contexts and analysis influencing factors. This study analyses performance Portuguese municipalities, considering indicators published on ODSlocal platform. The results show that most targets have not yet been fulfilled, with higher degree achievement "People" pillar. SDG 4 (quality education − 42.3%) 6 (clean water sanitation 42.1%) had highest achievement, contrast 2 (zero hunger 5.5%) 13 (climate action 7.3%). distinction two clusters showed larger municipalities those located more economically developed areas tend perform better. Higher education institutions (HEIs), based on learning, innovation, and research, can support the progress of civil society. Many HEIs are implementing sustainability practices projects to counteract climate change, often involving youth participation. The present study aimed at identifying how sustainable communities may be fostered in a university setting. To that end, questionnaire was administered engineering students start end course energy issues, assessing their perceptions using multi-criteria decision analysis. results showed placed greater value course. Sustainable development monitoring reveals the extent to which local and national territories are progressing towards sustainability goals. This study considered 105 indicators associated with Equitable Wellbeing (BES) framework 139 Development Goals (SDGs), using multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) cluster compare regional performance across Italian territory in 2022. At SDG level, Lombardia exhibited highest performance, while provinces of Trento Bolzano led at BES level. The results were further analyzed respect geographic macro-areas three dimensions sustainability, via separate analyses comparing results. Abstract Sustainable development serves as a guiding principle for societies aiming to progress beyond purely economic measures of well‐being. This paper constructs composite indicator based on the framework equitable and sustainable Well‐being (BES), integrating 105 indicators Italian regions over period 2018–2022. The results show that provinces Bolzano Trento led ranking. Regionally, those in north scored highest 2022 (0.603), followed by central region (0.556) south (0.404). The SDGs have made a significant contribution to the sustainability movement, being used by many organisations from across sectors all over world as their framework. Abstract The European Green Deal aims at increasing the sustainability of economic sectors to mitigate effects climate change. Complementing this initiative, Next Generation EU (NGEU) program, whose budget will exceed 800 billion € by 2026, is not merely a recovery plan but also catalyst for green technologies and sustainable activities. Within framework, Italy stands as largest beneficiary funds. present study explored distribution date 194.4 NGEU funds across Italian regions Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that have received most significant attention result funding. Leveraging multiple comprehensive datasets, including one encompassing more than 306,706 measures sub‐measures, analysis revealed 55.5 was directed towards Italy's “Green Revolution Ecological Transition,” with further 104.1 allocated (predominantly) SDGs 7 9.
