The COVID-19 pandemic has considerably impacted the health and lifestyle of various populations worldwide, leading to decreased physical activity, increased sedentary behavior, problems. This study aimed investigate Hong Kong young adults' related behaviors, perceptions body image during pandemic. A cross-sectional online survey adults aged 18-29 was conducted from February March 2021 using well-validated Multidimensional Body Self-Relations Questionnaire (MBSRQ). Among 408 respondents, 52.5% had a normal weight in BMI range, 45.1% engaged ≥8 h behavior daily, 77.2% no regular or inadequate activity (<2.5 h/week), only 22.3% joined fitness club. BMI, joining any club/class were significantly associated with most factors additional subscales. multiple linear regression model showed that underweight respondents (reference group: normal) (β = -0.26, 95% CI: -0.41 -0.12) less likely have high scores orientation. who <2.5 h/week 0.42, 0.29 0.54), ≥2.5 0.99, 0.84 1.14) activity), 0.32, 0.18 0.45) more score Local governments, non-governmental organizations, schools, community centers should establish appropriate strategies activities order sufficiently encourage support well-being.

BACKGROUND The Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 underwent several mutations since it was first identified in November 2021, with a large case outbreak Hong Kong during early 2022. Yet, local cases infections persist, even though COVID-19 ended May 2023. Therefore, this study aims to compare the changes clinical and demographic characteristics hospitalized patients Kong. OBJECTIVE primary objective compared different strains, while secondary post-pandemic. METHODS This cohort collected data on infected admitted public hospitals between 1st 2022 31st 2024. Later categorized into 3 periods based strain. Subsequent descriptive analysis conducted each characteristic identify any significant differences (primary objective) within (secondary periods. RESULTS 136,544 episodes were 72,471 that occurred period 1, 41,167 2, 22,906 3. Notably, case-fatality ratio increased from 6.3 6.4. Demographic significantly for age (0-17 years old, 18-64 ≥85 old: Adjusted P<.001), sex (Adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index score (0: P=.04, 1: P=.003), comorbidities (type 2 diabetes mellitus: race (Pakistani: length hospital stay social deprivation index (Most disadvantaged: P<.001) Clinical also levels blood biomarkers (Albumin, Neutrophil, Lymphocyte, Platelet: in-patient drug administration (ACE inhibitors, antidiabetics, antiplatelets anticoagulants, beta blockers, bronchodilators, calcium channel diuretics, inhaled corticosteroids, rheumatoid drugs, statins, systemic corticosteroids: P<.001). Post-hoc results comparing within-groups showed spill-over post-pandemic era adults P=.91), type mellitus P=1.00), Pakistani P=.61), 0 CCI P=.18). CONCLUSIONS Despite decreasing incidence Kong, increasing suggests long-term surveillance should be maintained prepare potential outbreaks.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has influenced antimicrobial consumption and incidence of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). We aimed to study the epidemiology MDROs before during COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong. With maintenance infection control measures, we described trend MDRO infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter species (CRA), extended-spectrum-beta-lactamase-(ESBL)-producing Enterobacterales, a healthcare region with 3100-bed (1 January 2016 31 December 2019, period 1) 2020 30 September 2022, 2), together using piecewise Poisson regression. epidemiological characteristics newly diagnosed patients or without infections were analyzed.Between 1 2, observed significant increase CRA (P<0.001), while there was no MRSA (P=0.742) ESBL-producing Enterobacterales (P=0.061) infections. Meanwhile, carbapenems extended-spectrum beta-lactam-beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations (BLBI) (P=0.045), fluoroquinolones (P=0.009) observed. opportunity (23,540 ± 3703 vs 26,145 2838, p=0.359) compliance (81.6% 0.5% 80.1% 0.8%, P=0.209) hand hygiene per year maintained. In multivariable model, older age, male sex, referral from residential care home for elderly, presence indwelling device, endotracheal tube, use carbapenems, BLBI, proton pump inhibitors history hospitalization past 3 months associated higher risks by among patients.Infection measures may surge despite an increasing consumption.

Abstract The recurrent multiwave nature of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) necessitates updating its symptomatology. We characterize the effect variants on symptom presentation, identify symptoms predictive and protective death, quantify vaccination development. With COVID‐19 cases reported up to August 25, 2022 in Hong Kong, an iterative multitier text‐matching algorithm was developed from free text. Multivariate regression used measure associations between variants, development, status. A least absolute shrinkage selection operator technique a parsimonious set jointly associated with death. Overall, 70.9% (54 450/76 762) were symptomatic 102 identified. Intrinsically, wild‐type delta variant caused similar among unvaccinated cases, whereas omicron BA.2 subvariant had heterogeneous patterns, seven (fatigue, fever, chest pain, runny nose, sputum production, nausea/vomiting, sore throat) more frequent cohort. ≥2 vaccine doses, likely than cause fever cases.
