Challenges and social adaptation of international students in Saudi Arabia

Adapting to university life in Saudi Arabia can be difficult for international students. This qualitative research, based on the social adaption framework, explore detail problems that students experience during their enrolment at Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU), which is located Riyadh, Arabia. Utilizing purposeful sampling, 20 participated semi-structured interviews. The interviews contained 16 questions elicit students' perceptions about challenges they encountered faced residence Findings revealed experienced language barriers, had deal with issues regarding culture shock, and episodes of depression, nostalgia, stress, loneliness, homesickness. However, these retained positive attitudes adaptation were satisfied resources facilities provided IMSIU.
