Abstract Parkinson’s disease (PD), characterized by tremor, slowness of movement, stiffness, and poor balance, is due to a significant loss dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta nerve terminals striatum with deficit dopamine. To date mechanisms sustaining PD pathogenesis are under investigation; however, solid body experimental evidence involves neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, apoptotic cell death as crucial factors operating PD. Nutrition known modulate neuroinflammatory processes implicated progression this neurodegenerative disorder. Sex and Gender in Ageing and Longevity: Highlights from an International Course

Gender medicine is a multidisciplinary science and represents an important perspective for pathophysiological clinical studies in the third millennium. Here, it provided overview of topics discussed recent course on Role Sex Ageing Longevity. The paper highlights three themes course, i.e., interaction gender/sex with, i) pathophysiology age-related diseases; ii), role genetics epigenetics ageing longevity and, iii) immune responses older people to pathogens, vaccines, autoantigens, allergens. Although largely unexplored, clear that sex gender are modulators disease biology treatment outcomes. It becoming evident men women should no longer be considered as subgroups, but biologically distinct groups patients deserving consideration specific therapeutic approaches.
