Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is closely linked with sarcopenia. The lack of validated, easy, and effective sarcopenia screening tools for people T2DM may result in underdiagnosis, delayed interventions, worsening outcomes. This study evaluated compared the diagnostic accuracy various outpatients. A cross-sectional was conducted on 329 at Phramongkutklao Hospital, Thailand, between December 2023 November 2024. eight tools. Asian Working Group Sarcopenia 2019 (AWGS 2019) criteria served as reference standard. Sensitivity, Specificity, were using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. optimal cutoffs identified Youden index. prevalence 23.7%. Calf circumference showed highest standard cutoff (AUC: 0.892), optimised points < 37.0 cm males 36.0 females, achieved high sensitivity (90.1% males, 91.1% females) acceptable specificity (77.2% 67.8% females). Neck demonstrated utility 0.741) proposed thresholds 39.5 (males) 36.5 (females), yielding moderate (69.7% 82.2% (78.9% 62.6% Questionnaire-based limited SARC-CalF performing best 0.789, sensitivity: 48.7%, specificity: 93.2%). Among physical performance tests, handgrip strength most accurate 0.716), although these tests generally exhibited sensitivity, but lower specificity. tool T2DM. emerged a promising alternative values, offering simple, novel practice option. These findings support implementation anthropometric measures clinical settings, particularly outpatient care.

Early menarche is associated with lifelong health implications, including heightened risks for obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2D), cardiovascular disease, and overall mortality. This study explored the associations that link early menarche, major adiposity indices, T2D in a group of multi-ethnic Asian women. A prospective, hospital-based was conducted Singapore. Two thousand seven hundred fifteen women were recruited from 2014 to 2016 (45-69 years old) 1201 followed up 2021 2023. At baseline, age at (AAM) divided into sub-categories: < 12 (early AAM), 12-13, 14-15 (reference), > 15 years. Major indices glycemic profiles assessed, fat mass index (FMI), visceral adipose tissue (VAT), HOMA-IR (homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance). 6.6-year follow-up, assessed. One-way ANOVA chi-square performed continuous categorical variables, respectively. Multivariable regression analysis determine association between AAM primary outcomes, measurements (FMI, VAT) metabolic assessments (HOMA-IR) baseline. Modified Poisson assess relative risk (RR) follow-up. Serial mediation potential mediators underlying T2D. All analyses accounted confounders age, ethnicity, education. Women had significantly greater values assessments, increments FMI (10.9 vs 10.3, p 0.001), VAT (134 113 cm2, = 0.05) (1.20 1.03, 0.08) (< vs. years) 60% increased developing (RR 1.60 (95%CI: 1.04, 2.45)). suggested significant pathway T2D, which firstly mediated by FMI, lastly (p 0.05). Our provided valuable insight pathophysiology development amongst mid-life AAM. The findings could potentially indicate strategies target among menopausal phase AAM, prevent

Background Digital health technologies (DHTs) promise enhanced for older people, yet the digital divide hinders adoption and utilization. This study aimed to identify DHTs that can help people in chronic disease management, specifically facilitators, barriers, needs, scenarios. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE studies published English between 2000 2024. Analysis included articles descriptive synthesis thematic analysis. Results Forty-seven were included, yielding 148 classified as Medical services support ( n = 94) or Self-management 54). Experience Use Interpersonal Support main facilitators use DHTs. Awareness Competence, Technological Factors, Sense Security, Individual Factors are barriers. Needs be categorized into Service Functions Subjective Needs, scenarios include Home, Community, Hospital. Conclusions widely used, especially developed countries, but challenges remain developing countries among specific patient. Future should focus on addressing concerns about DHT availability, security, reliability actively incorporating feedback, providing personalized service, fully mobilizing positive social factors promote

BACKGROUND : It is important to evaluate the effect of androgen replacement therapy on glycemic control. AIMS Assessment transdermal testosterone control in men with hypogonadism and T2DM. MATERIALS AND METHODS The prospective, comparative study included 300 aged 55[49;61] years: receiving both glucose-lowering (GLT) testosterone; patients only GLT. Observation period 1 year. A medical history, a questionnaire for symptoms deficiency, measurement total glycated hemoglobin were carried out. Groups compared using nonparametric methods. RESULTS Patients combination GLT at 6 12 months from moment inclusion study, they had statistically significantly higher level less severity deficiency. When assessing magnitude changes studied parameters, it was found that (TRT) characterized by more pronounced decrease (average difference 0,3%). In 29 (20,4% (95% ДИ 13,8–27,0)) who received GLT, eliminated. 3 TRT group, pathological increase blood PSA observed, therefore discontinued. An above reference value (>172 g/l) detected 8% 1,3% without correction hypogonadism, respectively, p=0,011. CONCLUSIONS: has positive control, which manifested greater extent than when alone. Normalization levels leads accompanied an improvement quality life. Elimination possible small number cases.

Sarcopenia has been recognized as an emerging complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Currently, the pathogenesis T2DM-related sarcopenia remains unclear. The aim this study was to investigate molecular mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for sarcopenia. In study, a mouse model established using db/db mice. Proteins extracted from gastrocnemius muscles mice littermate control db/m were analyzed by 4D label-free quantitative proteomics approach. A total 131 upregulated 68 downregulated proteins identified differentially expressed (DEPs). Bioinformatics analysis revealed that DEPs significantly enriched in lipid metabolism. Protein-protein interaction network six hub proteins, including ACOX1, CPT2, ECI2, ACADVL, ACADL, ECH1, involved fatty acid oxidation. protein-transcription factor-miRNA also constructed NetworkAnalyst tool. Finally, validated Western blotting immunohistochemistry further confirmed be negatively correlated with muscle mass grip strength. Our suggested metabolism, especially excessive oxidation, may crucial contributor progression common cause inter-relationship between T2DM Targeting metabolism promising strategy

Here, we investigated effect and mechanism of The results revealed ameliorated general symptoms diabetes, alleviated insulin resistance, as well improved glucose metabolism disorders vivo vitro. Moreover, also atrophy by resisting reduction fiber diameter balance protein anabolism catabolism. is worth noting these resistance were abolished inhibiting PI3K/Akt pathway.
