Students’ Perceptions of ChatGPT in Higher Education: A Study of Academic Enhancement, Procrastination, and Ethical Concerns DOI Open Access

The integration of AI tools in education is reshaping how students view and interact with their learning experiences. As usage continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important understand students' perceptions these technologies impact academic performance behaviours. To investigate effects, we conducted a correlational study sample 44 examining the relationship between ChatGPT’s utility—focusing on frequency, perceived usefulness, accuracy, reliability, time efficiency—and key outcomes, including content mastery, confidence knowledge, grade improvement. Additionally, explored influence student behaviours, such as reliance ChatGPT, procrastination tendencies, potential risk plagiarism. canonical correlation analysis revealed statistically significant ChatGPT's utility outcomes. Students who viewed ChatGPT reliable efficient tended report higher grades, improved understanding material, greater knowledge. Furthermore, bivariate dependency (r = 0.546, p < 0.001), indicating that may contribute increased procrastination. No association was identified Future research should prioritize development strategies promote effective use while minimizing overreliance. Such efforts can enhance integrity support independent learning. Educators play critical role this process by guiding balance advantages cultivation thinking skills adherence ethical practices.

O avanço da Inteligência Artificial (IA) tem transformado diversos setores, e no ensino superior não é diferente, onde acesso a ferramentas de IA generativa, como o ChatGPT, ganham destaque. Elas apenas ampliam recursos apoio ao aprendizado, mas suscitam novas discussões sobre seu impacto na autonomia estudantil ética acadêmica. Dista disto, este estudo explora uso Barra do Garças-MT. A metodologia adotada foi uma pesquisa exploratória descritiva com questionários quantitativos qualitativos.
