Symptoms of psychological distress and disorder have been widely reported in people under quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic; addition to severe disruption peoples' daily activity sleep patterns. This study investigates association between physical-activity levels patterns quarantined individuals. An international Google online survey was launched April 6th, 2020 for 12-weeks. Forty-one research organizations from Europe, North-Africa, Western-Asia, Americas promoted through their networks general society, which made available 14 languages. The presented a differential format with questions related responses "before" "during" confinement period. Participants responded Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire short form International Physical Activity Questionnaire. 5056 replies (59.4% female), Europe (46.4%), Western-Asia (25.4%), America (14.8%) North-Africa (13.3%) were analysed. home led impaired quality, as evidenced by increase global PSQI score (4.37 ± 2.71 before vs. 5.32 3.23 confinement) (p < 0.001). frequency individuals experiencing good decreased 61% (n = 3063) 48% 2405) highly active experienced better quality 0.001) both conditions. Time spent engaged all metabolic equivalent task each category (i.e., vigorous, moderate, walking) significantly number hours daily-sitting increased ~2 hours/days resulted negative alterations levels. To maintain health confinement, promotion hygiene education support are strongly warranted.

Abstract Objective Our objective was to explore the training-related knowledge, beliefs, and practices of athletes influence lockdowns in response coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Methods Athletes ( n = 12,526, comprising 13% world class, 21% international, 36% national, 24% state, 6% recreational) completed an online survey that available from 17 May 5 July 2020 explored their training behaviors (training beliefs/attitudes, practices), including specific questions on intensity, frequency, session duration before during lockdown (March–June 2020). Results Overall, 85% wanted “maintain training,” 79% disagreed with statement it is “okay not train lockdown,” a greater prevalence for both higher-level athletes. In total, 60% considered “coaching correspondence (remote coaching)” be sufficient (highest amongst world-class athletes). During lockdown, < 40% were able maintain sport-specific (e.g., long endurance [39%], interval [35%], weightlifting [33%], plyometric exercise [30%]) at pre-lockdown levels (higher among world-class, national athletes), most (83%) “general fitness health maintenance” lockdown. trained alone (80%) focused bodyweight (65%) cardiovascular (59%) exercise/training Compared reported reduced frequency (from between five seven sessions per week four or fewer), shorter ≥ 60 min), lower intensity (~ 38% reduction), irrespective athlete classification. Conclusions COVID-19-related saw marked reductions athletic specificity, duration, notable within-sample differences (by classification). Higher classification had strongest desire “maintain” greatest opposition “not training” lockdowns. These higher retained specificity degree than others, probably because preferential access limited resources. More correspondence” as did lockdown-mediated changes conducive maintenance progression athletes’ physical capacities also likely detrimental mental health. data can used policy makers, athletes, multidisciplinary teams modulate practice, individualization, current continued pandemic-related scenario. Furthermore, may drive educational resources teams. Such upskilling would provide evidence inform modifications germane situations COVID related, injury, illness).

The COVID-19 outbreak resulted in the shutdown of athletic training facilities. Although effects these restrictions on daily activity and sleep patterns have been widely analyzed, employed tools often lacked accuracy, were based subjective measures. This study assessed home confinement objective physical (PA), physiological parameters active individuals. Sixteen male elite fitness coaches (age: 29±3 years; height: 183±6 cm; body mass: 82±5 kg, mass index: 24.7±1.8 kg/m2) participated this retrospective study. One-way analysis variance was conducted to analyze selected PA, collected by smartwatch (Garmin Fenix 6 pro, USA) data during four consecutive months [i.e., pre-confinement, 1st 2nd confinement, post-confinement, year 2020]. Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF) month occurred confinement. Compared significant changes registered for almost all and/or confinements (p<0.001), with (i) higher values resting heart rate, latency, total, light rapid eye movements times (% change=7-523 %), (ii) lower PA parameters, calories/day spent, average highest respiratory rates, deep time period change=5-36 %). During post-confinement month, regained pre-confinement values. In conclusion, confinement-induced detraining negatively influenced measurements cardiorespiratory among a deeper effect possibly due RIF.
