Prevalence of phubbing behaviour in school and university students in Spain

Objective
This
study
examined
the
prevalence
of
phubbing
behavior
among
school
and
university
students
in
Spain
analyzed
correlation
with
other
indicators
psychological
well-being
mental
health.
Methods
The
sample
comprised
a
total
1,351
students,
ages
ranging
from
12
to
21
years.
used
Phubbing
Scale
(PS),
Compulsive
Internet
Use
(CIUS),
Rosenberg
Self-Esteem
(RSE),
Interpersonal
Emotion
Regulation
Questionnaire
(IERQ)
for
data
collection.
Results
results
showed
evidence
approximately
half
students.
Statistically
significant
differences
were
found
based
on
gender
educational
level
Phone
Obsession
subscale
PS
score,
male
scoring
higher
their
respective
parameters.
In
addition,
was
positively
correlated
problematic
internet
use
negatively
self-esteem.
Conclusion
is
highly
prevalent
adolescents
aged
12–21
years
low
self-esteem
use.
Developing
strategies
addressing
this
widespread
issue
at
early
ages,
particularly
within
context,
such
as
schools,
crucial
implementing
preventive
measures.
