Abstract Problems with taxon name author citation in the running text of scientific articles are outlined. Particularly, length names strings has significantly increased last decades, which could be demonstrated by analysis LIAS database. In addition, ambiguity because variations abbreviation and incomplete or incorrect authors’ names. It is therefore suggested that non‐taxonomic publications, should replaced identifiers as issued registration repositories. The advantage such approach especially context linked open data semantic network challenges described. An additional recommendation Article 46 ICN an example suggested.

Scientific names are crucial in communicating knowledge about fungi. In plant pathology, they link information regarding the biology, host range, distribution, and potential risk. Our understanding of fungal biodiversity systematics has undergone an exponential leap, incorporating genomics, web-based systems, DNA data for rapid identification to species metadata. The impact our ability recognize hitherto unknown organisms on pathology trade is enormous continues grow. Major challenges phytomycology intertwined with Genera Fungi project, which adds barcodes known corrects application old, established via epi- or neotypification. Implementing one fungus–one name system linking validated type specimens, cultures, reference sequences will provide foundation future communication pathogens rest.

Research on oral fungi has centered Candida. However, recent internal transcribed spacer (ITS)-based studies revealed a vast number of fungal taxa as potential residents. We review DNA-based the mycobiome and contrast them with cultivation-based surveys, showing that most genera encountered by cultivation have also been detected molecularly. Some such Malassezia, however, appear in high prevalence abundance molecular but not cultivated. Important technical bioinformatic challenges to ITS-based are discussed. These include optimization sample lysis, variability length ITS amplicons, intra-species sequence variability, inter-species copy nomenclature maintenance curated reference databases. Molecular surveys powerful first steps characterize further research is needed unravel which DNA true residents what role they play homeostasis.

Mexico generates specific phytosanitary regulations for each product and origin to prevent the entry of quarantine pests and/or delay their spread within national territory, including fungi oomycetes. Phytosanitary are established based on available information presence or absence these pathogens in country; however, compilation precise analysis reports is a challenging task due many publications lacking scientific rigor determining taxon interest country. This review evaluated various studies reporting plant pathogenic oomycetes concluded that some lists diseases phytopathogenic organisms lack technical-scientific basis. Thus, it highlights need presents an excellent opportunity establish National Collection Fungal Cultures Herbarium obligate parasites, as well generate Database Phytopathogenic Fungi Oomycetes present Mexico, supported by combination morphological, molecular, epidemiological, pathogenicity, symptom, micrograph data.
