Abstract The agency of a person with young onset dementia (YOD) changes owing to individual symptoms, uncertainty about the speed progression and severity YOD. Dementia usually greatly interrupts life reduces agency. Previous studies show that some people families integrate cope better than others. Abstract Background Young onset dementia (YOD) is a major diagnostic and management problem. Methods We set out to explore if electroencephalography (EEG) might be useful in the diagnosis of young Alzheimer’s disease (YOAD) frontotemporal (YOFTD). The ARTEMIS project 25-year prospective study YOD based Perth, Western Australia. 231 participants were included: YOAD: n = 103, YOFTD: 28, controls: 100. EEGs performed prospectively, with 30-minute recording time for each subject, without knowledge or other data. Results 80.9% patients had abnormal ( P < 0.00001). Slow wave changes more frequent YOAD that YOFTD 0.00001), but no difference frequency epileptiform activity 0.32), 38.8% 28.6% having activity. generalized 0.001). not sensitive YOD, highly specific (97–99%). absence slow 100% negative predictive value likelihood radio 0.14 0.62 respectively, meaning those low probability YOD. No relationship was established between EEG findings patient’s presenting Eleven developed seizures during study, only one YOFTD. Conclusions phenomena making unlikely, diagnosis.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, which not just confined to the older population. Although developments have been made in AD treatment, various limitations remain be addressed. These are partly contributed by biological hurdles, such as blood–brain barrier and peripheral side effects, well lack of carriers that can efficiently deliver therapeutics brain while preserving their therapeutic efficacy. The increasing prevalence unavailability effective treatments encouraged researchers develop improved, convenient, affordable therapies. Functional materials based on primitive cells nanotechnology emerging attractive treatment. Cell primitives possess distinct functions, including long-term circulation, lesion site targeting, immune suppression. Abstract Background Heat-related illness (HRI) is commonly considered an acute condition, and its potential long-term consequences are not well understood. We conducted a population-based cohort study animal experiment to evaluate whether HRI associated with dementia later in life. Methods The Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database was used the epidemiological study. identified newly diagnosed patients between 2001 2015, but excluded those any pre-existing dementia, as cohort. Through matching by age, sex, index date cohort, we selected individuals without comparison at 1:4 ratio. followed each member until end of 2018 compared risk two cohorts using Cox proportional hazards regression models. In experiment, rat model assess cognitive functions histopathological changes hippocampus after heat stroke event. Results study, consisted 70,721 282,884 HRI. After adjusting for confounders, had higher (adjusted hazard ratio [AHR] = 1.24; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.19–1.29). Patients (AHR 1.26; CI: 1.18–1.34). found dysfunction evidenced behavioral tests observed remarkable neuronal damage, degeneration, apoptosis, amyloid plaque deposition Conclusions Our indicated that elevated dementia. This finding substantiated features hippocampus, along impairments detected, experimental model.

Introduction Young onset dementia (YOD) by its nature is difficult to diagnose. Despite involvement of multidisciplinary neurogenetics services, patients with YOD and their families face significant diagnostic delays. Genetic testing for people currently involves a staggered, iterative approach. There no optimal single genetic investigation that simultaneously identifies the different variants resulting in YOD.

Young-onset dementia (YOD) is influenced by various risk factors, including substance abuse. In this report, we present the case of a 54-year-old man who developed YOD following prolonged abuse amphetamine-type stimulants. The patient exhibited insidious cognitive decline over three-year period before seeking medical attention. Neuroimaging revealed atrophy temporal lobe, suggesting connection between amphetamine-induced neurotoxicity and abnormalities observed in condition.
