Interactions between land plants and other organisms such as pathogens, pollinators, or symbionts usually involve a variety of specialized effectors participating in complex cross-talks organisms. Fatty acids their lipid derivatives play important roles these biological interactions. While the transcriptional regulation genes encoding acyl–acyl carrier protein (ACP) desaturases appears to be largely responsive biotic stress, different monounsaturated fatty produced by enzymes were shown take active part plant interactions assigned with specific functions intrinsically linked position carbon–carbon double bond within acyl chain. For example, oleic acid, an omega-9 acid Δ9-stearoyl–ACP desaturases, participates signal transduction pathways affecting immunity against pathogen infection. Myristoleic omega-5 Δ9-myristoyl–ACP serves precursor for biosynthesis anacardic that are biocides pests. Finally, types synthesized labellum orchids used production alkenes chemistry sexual deception, hence favoring pollination hymenopterans.

ABSTRACT Both animals and plants have evolved a robust immune system to surveil defeat invading pathogenic microbes. Evasion of host surveillance is the key for pathogens initiate successful infection. To evade immunity, plant variety strategies such as masking themselves from recognitions, blocking signaling transductions, reprogramming responses adapting microenvironmental changes. Gain new virulence genes, sequence structural variations enables immunity through changes in genetic code. However, recent discoveries demonstrated that at transcriptional, post-transcriptional, post-translational glycome level enable cope with without coding The biochemical modification pathogen associated molecular patterns silencing effector genes emerged potent ways hide recognition. Altered processing mRNA activities provide resilience microenvironment Importantly, these hiding variants are directly or indirectly modulated by catalytic enzymes enzymatic complexes cannot be revealed classical genomics alone. Unveiling novel evasion mechanisms us better understand nature disease pinpoints rational diseases management global food protection.

Abstract In this study, we investigated the interplay between nitrogen nutrition and pectin degradation dynamics during Arabidopsis Botrytis interaction. Our findings revealed that infected detached leaves from nitrogen-sufficient plants released more lyase (PNL)-derived oligogalacturonides compared to nitrogen-deficient ones. We then focused on BcPNL1, most highly expressed PNL upon infection. Using mutant strains lacking BcPNL1 , observed reduced pathogenicity, a delay in germination lag triggering plant defense response. Additionally, leaves, elevated expression of jasmonic acid repressor genes infection with wild-type strain was abolished mutants. These results linked increased production BcPNL-derived products genes, contributing partially higher susceptibility leaves. could lay foundation for new strategies aimed at reconciling both crop resistance pathogens improvement nutrition.

Abstract The use of the genetic components involved in quantitative disease resistance (QDR) are often not well understood and analyses genotype-by-genotype interactions can shed light on how activation strategies vary across interactions. To deepen knowledge QDR molecular Norway spruce - Heterobasidion annosum s.l.. pathosystem we inoculated ten relatively resistant clones with four H. s.s. isolates varying virulence determined phenotypes. Thereafter analysed transcriptome nine between three isolates. We tested hypotheses that i) differences among host pathogen genotypes affect symptoms; ii) respond differently depending isolate they were challenged iii) this effect is be accompanied by distinct transcriptional reprogramming. found levels expression influenced both genotypes. genotype was strongest predictor phenotype, especially early interaction. different displayed responses indicating similar governed defence modules. In where could limit progression symptoms more interaction, consistent outcome being For instance, Leucine rich repeat family genes tended to upregulated higher downregulated clone lower indication recognition signalling may one keys successfully controlling Heterobasidion root rot spruce.
