Perceptual
awareness

Neuronal
interactions

Abstract
Preclinical
behavioral
testing
is
essential
for
drug
discovery
in
neuropsychiatric
disorders,
yet
translational
challenges
persist
because
of
interspecies
differences.
Touchscreen‐based
tasks
offer
a
promising
solution
bridging
this
gap.
These
provide
flexibility
across
cognitive
domains
and
species,
facilitating
rigorous
comparisons.
They
complement
traditional
assays,
offering
improved
face,
predictive,
construct
validity
by
mirroring
human
neuropsychological
tests.
Notably,
nearly
identical
have
been
validated
multiple
enhancing
potential.
Recent
studies
demonstrate
conserved
neurocircuitry
engagement
touchscreen
tasks,
supporting
their
relevance
to
function
therapeutic
development.
The
integration
electrophysiological
measures,
such
as
electroencephalography
(EEG)
local
field
potential
(LFP)
recordings
with
enhances
biomarker
serves
elucidate
neural
circuit
dynamics.
Despite
current
limitations
the
need
further
validation,
approach
