This study investigates the impacts of three different heavy metals at concentrations on some life-history traits Lucilia sericata (Meigen 1826) (Diptera: Calliphoridae). First-instar larvae L. were reared a diet containing four (0.25, 0.50, 1, and 2 µg/g) (cadmium, zinc copper). The parameters measured larval pupal mortality, length, adult, pupal, weight, development time. Larval survival decreased as metal increased. Pupal weight was significantly among andc oncentrations, but adult not concentrations. length metals. reveals that presence in carrion or environment should be inconsidered when estimating time colonization forensic investigations.

Abstract The black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens , comes with big promises for industrial purposes since its larvae feed polyphagously on a broad spectrum of organic substrates. However, research focusing adult flies is scarce, which inconsistent their reproductive relevance within the rearing cycle. In particular, directed oviposition challenge in artificial systems. Currently, decomposing matter commonly used as substrate, has extensive potential improvement view lack standardization and risk microbial contamination. Here, we identified three fatty acids one acid methyl ester derived from surface old sites targeted to elucidate effect preference behavior site selection using Y‐olfactometry prepared sites, respectively. Exposure tetradecanoic attracted gravid females stimulated most strongly, while decanoic demonstrated repulsive effect. Females kept mixed‐sex populations were by acid, resulting higher egg mass found compound box (3.0–11.4 fold), ≥ 2.3 fold reduction nonspecifically deposited eggs, highest total mass. Conversely, dodecanoic caused lay greater proportion eggs outside both boxes. Our data suggest that acids, especially are important cues flies. order achieve behavior, role further short‐ long‐chain attractants should be examined.

Glycoalkaloids (GAs) are produced naturally by plants and affect insect survivability fertility. These compounds can be considered potential bioinsecticides; however, the mechanisms effects of their action remain undiscovered. As lipids essential molecules for proper functioning an organism, this research aimed to determine GAs on lipid metabolism Tenebrio molitor beetle. Solanine, chaconine, tomatine, tomato leaf extract were applied larvae injection at two concentrations, 10-8 10-5 M. Then, tissue was isolated after 2 24 h levels free fatty acids, sterols esters using GC-MS technique. Moreover, triacylglyceride level activity key β-oxidation enzyme, 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (HADH), measured. The results indicate that content composition in beetles' haemolymph fat body. depend GA incubation time, kind tissue. tested decrease HADH activity, especially body, which may energy production. To our knowledge, is first study concerning T. application. Our provide some insights into topic.
