Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) are known to have a regulatory effect on oxidative and inflammatory processes. This study aimed identify the relationship between blood PUFA status circulatory markers of stress inflammation in cohort 172 subjects. The population was divided by sex into three age groups: adults (18-64 years old, n = 69), older (65-89 54), long-lived individuals (LLIs, 90-111 49). Whole content quantified using gas chromatography. Additionally, serum levels C-reactive protein (CRP), paraoxonase (PON), Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC), malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured. Our results showed that higher omega-3 (n-3) index adult females predictor lower MDA concentrations (p 0.038). Conversely, total n-3 n-6 positively related values among LLI men < 0.05), while inversely correlated with 0.05). Paraoxonases (PON) are three enzymes (PON1, PON2 and PON3) that play a role in the organism’s antioxidant system; alterations which associated with diseases involving oxidative stress. In this review, we summarize evidence of PON related to pathogenesis coronary artery disease (CAD) atherosclerosis. We searched electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus Cochrane Database) no date limit. All articles selected investigated enzymatic activity and/or gene polymorphisms. The selection focused on relation atherosclerosis, CAD myocardial infarction. exclusion criteria were sample size <100 patients, non-human studies, editorials systematic reviews without restrictions country origin. With these criteria, identified thirty-five prospective studies published between 1986 2014 total 28,164 participants. relationship polymorphisms was not conclusive, but most support concept PON1 levels do influence atheroma formation. Red grape seed extract (RGSE) contains oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes as a class of flavonoids. These compounds are potent antioxidants and exert many health-promoting effects. This study aimed to determine the effects RGSE on serum levels triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low-density (LDL-C), apolipoprotein AI (apo-AI) paraoxonase (PON) activity in patients with mild moderate hyperlipidemia (MMH).A randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted at Shahid-Modarres Hospital (Tehran, Iran) Tabriz University Medical Sciences. Paraoxonase1 (PON1) activity is closely related to coronary artery disease (CAD). However, whether PON1 can predict the degree of stenosis remains unknown. In present study, serum and factors that influence were analyzed in 186 patients with diagnostic angiography. The was determined using a spectrophotometry-based assay angiography, which severity graded clinically defined as single- or multi-vessel >50%. Target lesion quantified via quantitative angiography (QCA). significantly decreased CAD group, multiple subgroup, diabetes mellitus subgroup compared each control group. positively correlated High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1). The aim of the study was to compare effect maximal exercise (ME) on paraoxonase (PON) and arylesterase (ARE) activity depending lifestyle in respect physical activity. performed 46 young men divided into two groups: sedentary (S) physically active (PA). All participants ME a treadmill. PON1 activities, FRAP, uric acid, bilirubin, TBARS, lipid profile were determined their blood before, at bout of, after ME. No significant differences activities found between S PA subjects baseline. Nearly all biochemicals increased both groups. Both PON ARE only subjects. Abstract Since aortic aneurysms (AAs) are mostly asymptomatic, but they have a high mortality rate upon rupture, their detection and progression evaluation clinically important issues. To discover diagnostic biomarkers for AA, we performed proteome analysis of media from patients with thoracic atherosclerotic AA (TAAA), comparing protein levels between the aneurysm normal tissue areas. After hierarchical clustering data, samples were classified into three groups, regardless morphological features. This classification was shown to reflect disease stage identified by pathological examination. proteomics-based staging system enabled us identify more significantly altered proteins than system. In subsequent data analysis, Niemann-Pick type C2 (NPC2) insulin-like growth factor-binding 7 (IGFBP7) selected as novel biomarker candidates compared previously reported biomarker, thrombospondin 1 (THBS1). Blood concentrations NPC2 IGFBP7 increased, while THBS1 decreased in TAAA abdominal patients. Receiver operating characteristic healthy controls showed that higher specificity sensitivity THBS1.
