The preservation of reproductive health of the population is an important factor of demographic policy of the state. According to some authors from 14 to 30% of couples of reproductive age suffer from infertility; male factor in such marriages is detected in more than half of the cases. As you know, in recent years there has been a significant deterioration in the main indicators of reproductive function of men. Increased the number of andrological diseases, morphological disorders of the male reproductive system, almost halved the production of sperm in men of reproductive age. The reason probably lies behind a whole …

Background: The use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) has been associated with potential effects on male fertility, although the exact mechanisms are not fully understood. aim this study was to understand relationship between SSRIs and infertility; Methods: A retrospective chart review Saudi males who were treated attended an infertility clinic in KSMC undertaken. medical records men from reviewed screen quality sperm parameters patients taking SSRIs; Results: In total, 299 identified, whom 29 (9.6%) exposed SSRIs, while 270 (90.4%) did receive defined as control infertile group. When comparing mean ages, a notable disparity observed group (34.2 ± 6.9 years) using (41.5 3.2 (p < 0.001). Regarding analysis impact showed no significant differences liquefaction = 0.1), motility 0.17), viscosity 0.16), or count 0.069) escitalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine use; Conclusions: Our difference SSRI non-SSRI cohorts. However, warrants further investigation consideration clinical practice.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are frequently prescribed as gastric acid-suppressing agents. Nevertheless, there is limited evidence supporting the risk of detrimental effects PPIs on male fertility. The purpose current study was to evaluate effect subchronic use proton Seventy adult Wistar rats were assigned into seven groups. normal control group orally received solvent only. Groups 2, 3, and 4 given esomeprazole while groups 5, 6, 7 lansoprazole at 2.5, 10 mg/kg/day, respectively. After 45 days treatment, blood samples, epididymis, testis collected. Sperm count, motility, morphology determined. level hormones such testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing (LH) oxidative status tissue, superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione, malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO) estimated. Results demonstrated a significant decline in sperm morphology, catalase mg/kg/day GSH 2.5 mg/kg/day. A increase FSH, LH, MDA NO found compared group. pathological alterations specifically dilation Leydig cells, vacuolization, degeneration seminiferous tubules also evident. It concluded that had caused reproductive toxicity due altered levels elevated NO, stress.

BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that diabetes mellitus (DM) has a negative impact on male reproductive function, which may lead to changes in the testis and epididymis decline semen quality. MATERIAL AND METHODS:We performed animal experiments with 6 diabetic db/db mice as model group (group B) C57BL/6J control A). After adaptive feeding for 7 days, sperm quality of each was measured. Concurrently, morphology mouse observed by hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining. The expression PI3K, Akt, FoxO1, FasL, IL-6, Stat3 proteins mRNAs testicular tissue detected western blotting RT-qPCR. RESULTS:The number spermatozoa motility A significantly higher than B (P<0.05). H&E staining showed seminiferous tubules were damaged varying degrees sparsely arranged. Compared those A, levels lower (P<0.05), while IL-6 CONCLUSIONS:This study demonstrated DM inhibited FoxO1 pathway promoted mRNAs, leading abnormal apoptosis cells functional damage, eventually spermatogenic dysfunction.

Background. In this study, the male fertility-enhancing activity of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg/day Hunteria umbellata water seed extract ( HU ) in Wistar rats was studied for 60 days. doing this, effect repeated doses on weight gain pattern, gonadosomatic index (GSI), serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing (LH), testosterone (TS), prolactin (PRL), estradiol (ES)} as well testicular antioxidant status treated a way elucidating mechanism(s) action . Method. Thirty-six (36) were randomly divided into six groups (I-VI) per group. Group I gavaged with 10 ml/kg/day distilled served an untreated control; II 0.3 clomiphene water; Groups III-V received 100 mg/kg/day, 200 , respectively, VI 20 Vitamin C all water. All treatments days after which humanely sacrificed. Sera blood samples processed above stated hormonal profile. Similarly, tissues obtained semen analysis complete profile -treated testicles by assaying superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH), reductase (GSR), peroxidase (GSH-Px), Thiobarbituric Reactive Species (TBARS). Results Prolonged induced dose dependent reductions pattern most significant (p<0.001) recorded highest Conversely, increase GSI at same dose. Clomiphene also (p<0.01, p<0.001) increases total sperm count, %live sperm, but reverse effects %dead %abnormal sperm. On profile, oral treatment profound (p<0.05, p<0.01, related sera TS, LH, FSH while it caused PRL no alterations ES levels. vitamin 100-400 enzyme activities. Conclusion. Overall, prolonged mg/kg body significantly improved function mediated via enhanced spermatogenesis, steroidogenesis, mechanisms.
