Listening to music can trigger unpleasant feelings or bring meaning our lives, both from the cognitive and psychic perspectives. Mental health issues have become prevalent among music artists, more specifically Korean pop (K-pop) idols. Bangtan Boys’ (BTS) Agust D (aka Suga), for a time adopted his alter ego to voice out inner turmoil. Using corpus discourse analysis grounded on emotion-focused therapy framework, we analysed the linguistic patterns used by in trilogy of mixtapes i.e., D, D-2, and D-day released 2016, 2020, 2023. Findings showed creative use language describing contrasting emotions e.g., fear anger. Linguistic evidence suggests that anger is primary maladaptive emotion which channelled self-criticism triggered shame, denial feelings was form self-defence. Changes were significant as they presented state mental well-being, coming terms with struggles, fully embracing true self.

Spirituality and people with psychosis: A content analysis of influential primetime television programs DOI

Objective This mixed methods study examined depictions of spirituality among people with psychosis in influential television programming. Spirituality is a central strength for many psychosis. Yet, despite the important role media plays shaping perceptions, little research has intersection between and popular media. Methods To address this gap, we conducted content analysis 50 most viewed primetime fictional shows over 10-year period as determined by Nielsen rating organization. Characters were identified via keyword searches online sources (wikis, IMDb, etc.) subsequently independently coded two individuals. rated on 18 items three domains related to demographics, life status, character framing. Inter-rater reliability ranged from good excellent across variables. Results Of 120 focal characters psychosis, just 16 percent (n = 19) had spiritual identity. What social factors affect the content of rap music? Previous studies in this area have documented differing themes present rap, such as violence, sexual behavior, and materialism.
