Abstract Near‐infrared (NIR) light is well‐suited for the optical imaging and wireless phototherapy of malignant diseases because its deep tissue penetration, low autofluorescence, weak scattering, non‐invasiveness. Rare earth nanoparticles (RENPs) are promising NIR‐responsive materials, owing to their excellent physical chemical properties. The 4f electron subshell lanthanides, main group rare elements, has rich energy‐level structures. This facilitates broad‐spectrum light‐to‐light conversion other forms energy, such as thermal energies. In addition, abundant loadable modifiable sites on surface offer favorable conditions functional expansion RENPs. this review, authors systematically discuss processes mechanisms underlying response RENPs NIR summarize recent advances in applications imaging, photothermal therapy, photodynamic photoimmunotherapy, optogenetics, light‐responsive drug release. Abstract Carbon dots (CDs), as emerging long afterglow luminescent material, have attracted the attention of researchers and become one hot topics in materials. In recent years, obtained a series CDs‐based materials with different properties utilizing matrix‐assisted self‐protective methods. To meet diverse application needs, development multicolor is focus challenge this field. Most previously reported generally emit blue or green afterglow. Recently, some systems been discovered, emission range can extend from ultraviolet to near‐infrared. However, there lack systematic in‐depth analysis regarding preparation strategy luminescence mechanism Based on this, review summarizes strategies raw reaction parameters. Then, mechanisms are analyzed seven factors, including carbonization degree, surface state, aggregation temperature dependence, excitation multi‐emission center, energy transfer. Exploring efficient and stable long-persistent luminescence (LPL) materials is of great value for promoting their advanced applications. Here, the metal halide CsCdCl3:Mn2+ crystals with tunable afterglow properties good stability were grown by a facile solution method. Upon ultraviolet excitation, exhibited bright orange emission at 590 nm from d–d transition Mn2+ ions. doping concentrations matter LPL performance. By optimizing amount Mn2+, an enhanced duration up to 12 000 s was achieved, compared undoped sample, originating trap redistribution. The deep traps in CsCdCl3:0.1Mn2+ crystal that provide little contribution room temperature shifted shallow levels, thus synergistically enhancing intensity duration. Based on variable durations tuning concentrations, multi-dimensional information storage encryption model designed. This work gives understanding effect provides examples development encryption.

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs), heralded as "green lighting sources", offer compelling solution to the technical challenges exploration due their inherent advantages. Abstract Rare‐earth afterglow materials, with their unique light‐storage properties, show great promise for diverse applications. However, broader applicability is constrained by challenges such as poor solvent compatibility, limited luminescent efficiency, and monochromatic emissions. In this study, these limitations are addressed blending ZnS various rare‐earth phosphors including (Sr 0.75 Ca 0.25 )S:Eu 2+ ; SrAl 2 O 4 :Eu , Dy 3+ Sr MgSi 7 to modulate deep trap mechanisms significantly enhance both the light capture capabilities. Using electrospinning, a large‐area (0.4 m × 3 m) film successfully fabricated tunable colors an extended duration exceeding 30 h. This demonstrates thermoluminescence, enabling potential integration into fire‐rescue protective clothing enhanced emergency visibility. greenhouse settings, it effectively supports chlorophyll synthesis optimizes conditions plant growth over 24‐h cycle. For tunnel garage applications, captures stores from vehicle headlights at distances of up 70 meters. The scalability cost‐effectiveness underscore its considerable real‐world applications across multiple fields, marking significant advancement in sustainable illumination technology.
