Lower gestational age (GA) is a risk factor for cognitive and developmental concerns following preterm birth. However, its impact on executive function (EF) unclear based conflicting conclusions across the literature. Moreover, as children below 4 years have largely been neglected from previous reviews, of GA EF within this early period remains unclear. Hence, systematic review investigated birth in infancy early-to-middle childhood. PubMed, Web Science, PsycInfo were searched articles investigating (inhibition, working memory, shifting) preterm-born (<37 week gestation) term-born participants aged 0–10 years. Eighteen studies included. Most (n = 10) found no significant association between GA. several limitations hindered to be drawn about strength interpretation. Examples include inconsistencies theoretical underpinnings operationalisations EF, discrepancies reporting measurement GA, recruitment biases, paucity infant or longitudinal available. Consequently, these issues may contributed inconsistent null findings, they must addressed future research better clarify infants children.

Background Executive function has a significant impact on adolescents’ academic and future achievement is strongly associated with multiple factors. However, few studies have examined the association between sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption, cardiorespiratory fitness, executive function. Moreover, no research been found Tajik adolescents at high altitudes in China. The present study aimed to understand associations SSB among high-altitude areas of To accumulate information physical mental health development Methods In this study, cross-sectional assessment was conducted 1,121 aged 13–15 years altitude China 2023. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA), binary logistic regression analysis, ordered generalized linear model were used analyze that existed consumption fitness Results proportions ≤1 time/week, 2–5 times/week, ≥ 6 times/week 14.6, 51.6, 33.8%, respectively, VO 2max (37.17 ± 5.52) ml.kg.min −1 . inhibit control response, refreshing memory switching flexibility response Chinese (19.71 5.86) ms, (1114.39 356.85) (382.2 213.4) ms. Early executive functioning (EF) skills are foundational capabilities that predict school readiness, academic development and psychiatric risk. interventions enhancing these could have critical import in improving outcomes. However, to develop interventions, it is necessary identify specific EF will vary with child age. Thus, we aimed examine the characteristics efficacy of targeting infancy early childhood up age 3.

This study focuses on the obtention of normative data for participants between 8 and 16 years old who were administered Ice Cream test, a virtual reality tool designed to evaluate executive functions. The sample comprised n = 821 (49% female), with an age range old, recruited across nine different testing sites in Spain. This study aims to bridge a gap between Vygotsky's seminal framework on the importance of make-believe play and adult scaffolding in children's cognitive development (e.g. executive function [EFs]) research neuroscience. Kindergarten children (N = 160) teachers 12) took part study. EFs skills (Child Teacher dimensions; e.g. adult' level scaffolding) were assessed through observation with Executive Functions Observation Tool Mature Play Tool. Results from stepwise polynomial regressions mediation analysis showed significant mediating effect context curvilinear relationship teacher child's EFs. These results show observing each child which they learn understand their manifestations could allow for better planning intentional interventions support accordance developmental needs.

Abstract This study investigated the executive functions (EF) of preschool children and their associations with emotional, linguistic, cognitive skills, using parent teacher reports. A total 130 aged 34 to 71 months participated. The version Behavior Rating Inventory Executive Function (BRIEF-P) was completed by both parents teachers assess behavioral difficulties in use EFs, while were administered Test Emotion Comprehension (TEC), Language Evaluation (TVL), Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM). Statistical analyses revealed significant differences between parents’ teachers’ reports, attributing more EF than parents. Children’s negatively associated emotion comprehension, language ability, non-verbal intelligence, although correlations stronger when value indirect measurement preschoolers’ problems importance adopting a multi-informant approach are discussed.

Previous research consistently reported that subjects were exclusively breastfed (eBF) vs. not-exclusively (neBF) during infancy (0-6 months) showed increased scores of general intelligence measures (e.g., the quotient). However, existent literature largely neglected whether breastfeeding also affects specific cognitive processes, such as attention and working memory (WM) capacity. We tested eBF neBF performance differences in relation to these two core functions. The Attention Network Test (ANT), measure alerting, orienting, conflict, Change Colour Task (CCT), visuospatial WM capacity, administered 144 participants divided according age (6-, 10-, 18-year-old participants) (eBF or 0-6 months life). Importantly, sub-groups homogenous terms maternal education, a factor potentially affecting between cognition. While we found function participants' both tasks, failed observe effects related breastfeeding, evidenced by Bayesian analyses. These findings highlight for first time pattern nutrition provided early does not appear affect development at least starting from considered present study.
