Resilience refers to the adaptability of a person – an ability “bounce-back” from stressors. We question if resilience can be strengthened, potentially decrease risk stress-related disorders. Unfortunately, molecular origins are complicated and not yet well understood. In this review, we examine various physiological biomarkers resilience, including associated genes, epigenetic changes, protein with resilient phenotypes. addition assessing that may indicate higher levels also review at length many confer lower lead disorders low such as anxiety depression. This large encompassing help identify possible therapeutic targets resilience. Hopefully these studies will future where prevented, rather than treated.

Background: Stressful life events (SLEs) are a risk factor for alcohol use problems, and there is need identification of factors that may offset this risk. Resilience uniquely, inversely associated with use, but remains dearth research examining the buffering effect resilience toward problems in context SLEs. Objectives: This study used prospective data from an epidemiological twin sample (N = 7441) to test whether at Time 1 would act as buffer new onset SLEs (e.g. assault, marital problems) against dependence (AD) symptoms 2. Results: The final model, adjusted familial relatedness controlling demographic covariates (lifetime) AD symptoms, identified significant main effects SLEs; those greater reported fewer (β=-.087, p<.001) new-onset (β=.116, However, was no interaction (β=-.008, p>.05). Conclusions: Although findings further support association AD, results do not conceptualization impact future stressors on outcomes. suggests other be more relevant understanding protective or relation between
