Crop residues, the byproduct of crop production, are valuable natural resources that can be managed to maximize different input use efficiencies. residue management is a well-known and widely accepted practice, key component conservation agriculture. The rapid shift from conventional agriculture input-intensive modern agricultural practices often leads an increase in production residues. Growing more food for ever-increasing population brings chance fast generation. Ecosystem services residues improve soil health status supplement necessary elements plants. However, this just one side shield. Indecorous management, including in-situ burning, causes serious environmental hazards. This happens most hazard issues witnessed by sector. Moreover, improper these restrains them imparting their beneficial effects. In paper, we have reviewed all recent findings understand summarize aspects like impact on health, resource recycling, strategies related retention farming systems, which linked environment ecology. comprehensive review paper may helpful stakeholders formulate suitable techniques will fit well under existing system without compromising systems’ productivity sustainability.

Soil health is a term used to describe the general state or quality of soil, and in an agroecosystem, soil can be defined as ability respond agricultural practices way that sustainably supports both production provision other ecosystem services. Conventional cause deterioration quality, increasing its compaction, water erosion, salinization decreasing organic matter, nutrient content, biodiversity, which negatively influences productivity long-term sustainability soil. Currently, there are many evidences throughout world demonstrate capability conservation agriculture (CA) sustainable system overcome these adverse effects on health, avoid degradation ensure food security. CA has multiple beneficial physical, chemical, biological properties In addition, reduce negative impacts conventional while conserving Today, development facing unprecedented challenges, plays significant role intensive agriculture. This review will discuss impact their sustainability.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is closely tied to soil health. However, additional biological indicators may also provide insight about C dynamics and microbial activity. We used SOC the other (potential mineralization, permanganate oxidizable C, water extractable β-glucosidase enzyme activity) from North American Project Evaluate Health Measurements examine continental-scale drivers of these indicators, relationships among effects health practices on indicator values. All had greater values at cooler temperatures, most were with increased precipitation clay content. The strongly correlated each site-level, strongest relationship between C. responded positively decreased tillage, inclusion cover crops, application nutrients, retention crop residue, but not number harvested crops in a rotation. effect tillage was generally sites higher precipitation. magnitude direction response consistent across within site measuring least two would confidence management, especially for tillage. an essential criterion evaluating Balancing cost, sensitivity, interpretability, availability commercial labs, 24-hr potential mineralization assay could deliver benefit measure conjunction SOC.

Abstract Date palm ( Phoenix dactylifera L.) fruit is one of the ancient crops that have been cultivated for thousands years in arid regions Middle East and North Africa. Its nutritional economic importance has extended cultivation to other countries with suitable environmental conditions. Despite large expansion date associated improvement its yield quality over last few decades, challenges remain sustainability. Here, we review: (1) current status cultivation, (2) key soil‐related factors influencing productivity, (3) under global change addition assessing future potentials improvements The production increased by 18% during ten years, reaching 8.53 million tons, on a total area 1.11 ha. Water scarcity salinity stresses are major constraints affecting which serious issue regions, where water resources becoming depleted soil increasingly salinized due limited rainfall, high evapotranspiration, incorrect irrigation. Although can tolerate up 12 dS m −1 , accumulation salts strongly reduces yield. main areas dominated soils sandy texture pH low capacity nutrient retention. Organic fertilizers increase There lack long‐term studies (e.g., ≥10 years) designed monitor cultivar responses abiotic as well nutrition management practices. Future facing mainly include shortages, extremely temperatures, salinity, degradation, diseases pests. implementation efficient practices, including modern irrigation systems, selecting cultivars most local conditions, increasing retention, help sustain productivity.
