The Scalloped Spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus, Linnaeus 1758) known as one of the commercially harvested Panilurid lobster. This species was distributed widely across continents. Indonesia, largest archipelagic systems in world, also distribution area These facts have led to questions regarding spiny harvest and culture management by considering population differentiation habitat fragmentation on complex distinct islands. Our investigation conducted using high-density SNPs datasets from several lobsters five locations Indonesia. We found strong among populations clustered into 3 sub-populations. Environment association analysis Fst revealed outlier loci significantly associated with Sea Surface Temperature variation potentially correlated Current-related parameters. evidence a structured scalloped Indonesia can serve consideration lobsters.

Climate influences population genetic variation in marine species. Capturing these impacts remains challenging for fishes which disperse over large geographical scales spanning steep environmental gradients. It requires the extensive spatial sampling of individuals or populations, representative seascape heterogeneity, combined with a set highly informative molecular markers capable revealing climatic-associated variations. We explored how space, dispersal and environment shape genomic patterns two sympatric fish species Mediterranean Sea, ranks among oceanic basins most affected by climate change human pressure. hypothesized that structure climate-associated signatures selection would be stronger less mobile species, as restricted gene flow tends to facilitate fixation locally adapted alleles. To test our hypothesis, we genotyped contrasting abilities: white seabream Diplodus sargus striped red mullet Mullus surmuletus. collected 823 used genotyping sequencing (GBS) detect 8,206 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) 2,794 mullet. Abstract Permeable phylogeographic barriers characterize the vast open ocean, boosting gene flow and counteracting population differentiation speciation of widely distributed migratory species. However, many species consists distinct populations throughout their distribution, evidencing that our understanding how marine environment triggers divergence are insufficient. The sailfish is a circumtropical highly billfish inhabits warm productive areas. Despite its ecological socioeconomic importance as predator fishery resource, threatened by overfishing, requiring innovative approaches to improve management conservation status. Abstract How to identify the drivers of population connectivity remains a fundamental question in ecology and evolution. Answering this can be challenging aquatic environments where dynamic lake ocean currents coupled with high levels dispersal gene flow decrease utility modern genetic tools. To address challenge, we used RAD‐Seq genotype 959 yellow perch ( Perca flavescens ), species an ~40‐day pelagic larval duration (PLD), collected from 20 sites circumscribing Lake Michigan. We also developed novel, integrative approach that couples detailed biophysical models eco‐genetic agent‐based generate “predictive” values differentiation. By comparing predictive empirical differentiation, estimated relative contributions for known (e.g., currents, behavior, PLD). Investigating marine species population structure in a multidisciplinary framework can reveal signatures of potential local adaptation and the consequences for management conservation. In this study we delineate common sole ( Solea solea ) Mediterranean Sea using genomic otolith data, based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) markers, shape trace element composition data. We correlated SNPs with environmental spatial variables to evaluate impact selected features actual structure. Specifically, used seascape genetics approach redundancy (RDA) genetic-environmental association (GEA) analysis identify loci potentially involved adaptation. Finally, putative functional annotation was investigated detect genes associated detected patterns neutral adaptive genetic variation. Results from both data suggested significant divergence among populations sole, confirming clear separation between Western Eastern Sea, as well distinct cluster corresponding Adriatic Sea. Evidence fine-scale observed at outlier level further differentiation Adriatic. Longitude salinity variation accounted most wide fine The GEA processes under highly structured differentiation. Assessing genetic connectivity among populations in high gene flow species is sometimes insufficient to evaluate demographic connectivity. Genetic differentiation quickly becomes zero as soon a few dozen migrants are exchanged per generation. This provides little information determine whether migration can ensure coupling. The resulting difficulties delineating conservation units for the management of commercially exploited marine fish well illustrated case European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). Previous attempts assess patterns northeast Atlantic have been hampered by lack spatial structure. In contrast, mark-recapture data suggested low rates between regional spawning areas. Here, we show how gradient introgressed Mediterranean ancestry across reflects cryptic and Using 1K SNP chip set 827 individuals sampled from Portugal North Sea, found null overall Atlantic. We however detected subtle latitudinal admixture originating at edge contact zone with lineage. Two significant breaks tip Galicia northern Brittany indicated barriers effective dispersal demographically distinct units. Marine reserves are being established worldwide to conserve and manage marine resources, also often assumed the evolutionary potential of populations. However, comparisons genomic patterns inside outside in multiple species scarce. Here, we aim fill this gap by 1) comparing variation protected versus unprotected areas a network eight Mediterranean Sea, 2) disentangling effect seascape, space on 1297 individuals from four genotyped at more than 10 000 SNPs each. We report homogeneous local genetic diversity within three (the white seabream Diplodus sargus , striped red mullet Mullus surmuletus European spiny lobster Palinurus elephas ). Surprisingly, comber Serranus cabrilla shows lower areas, highlighting an apparent conservation paradox that may be due increased predation fishes reserves. Multivariate analyses reveal seascape factors (salinity, temperature chlorophyll) exert significant influence some cases, while protection status has no detectable effect. Nevertheless, (Cabo de Palos, Cerbère‐Banyuls, Cap Creus Illes Columbretes) harbor singular one or two species. This pattern, observed species, suggests contribute preserve locally. Our study illustrates can document key aspects their interaction with factors, It stresses need for multi‐species approach inform planning, opening up new perspectives community level.
