Pseudogenes, abundant in the human genome, are traditionally considered as non-functional "junk genes." However, recent studies have revealed that pseudogenes act key regulators at DNA, RNA or protein level diverse disorders (including cancer), among which pseudogene-derived long non-coding (lncRNA) transcripts extensively investigated and has been reported to be frequently dysregulated various types of cancer. Growing evidence demonstrates lncRNAs play important roles cancer initiation progression by serving competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) through competitively binding shared microRNAs (miRNAs), thus affecting both their cognate genes unrelated genes. In the past decade, hundreds of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as significant players in diverse types cancer; however, functions and mechanisms most lncRNAs cancer remain unclear. Several computational methods developed to detect associations between lncRNAs, yet those approaches limitations both sensitivity specificity. With goal improving prediction accuracy for lncRNA with cancer, we upgraded our previously cancer-related classifier, CRlncRC, generate CRlncRC2. CRlncRC2 is an eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) machine learning framework, including Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE)-based over-sampling, along Laplacian Score-based feature selection.
