The strobilation process, an asexual reproduction mechanism in Aurelia aurita, transitions from the sessile polyp to pelagic medusa stage. This study explored essential role of microbiome strobilation, particularly through bacterial beta carotene's impact on host's retinoic acid signaling pathway. Experiments demonstrated that native polyps undergo normal while sterile exhibit morphological defects. Supplementing with provitamin A carotene or vitamin metabolite 9-cis (RA) remedied these defects, underscoring their crucial strobilation. Transcriptional analysis revealed and RA restored expression genes levels. Inhibition key enzymes pathway disrupted further confirming its importance. β-carotenoid synthesis microbiome, contrasted tremendously reduced antibiotic-treated polyps, emphasizes microbiome's pivotal provision, facilitating A. aurita's signaling.

The Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus, is one of the most invasive species and a vector numerous arboviruses. deleterious effects long-term inappropriate use chemical pesticides have stimulated exploration new, environmentally friendly control strategies. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) been proven to participate in almost all biological processes insects. In this study, circular (circRNAs) microRNAs (miRNAs) covering five developmental stages [egg, early larvae, late pupae, adult (female male)] A. albopictus were obtained using whole-transcriptome sequencing technology. Combined with long non-coding (lncRNAs) from previous research, circRNA/lncRNA‒miRNA‒mitochondrial RNA (mRNA) networks constructed.A total 1434 circRNAs 208 miRNAs identified. More differentially expressed (DE circRNAs) miRNAs) found egg versus larvae comparison group. Functional enrichment analysis demonstrated that circRNA/lncRNA‒miRNA‒mRNA involved chitin metabolism. Hub genes each network screened out, which can be used as novel targets disturb molting process albopictus.Regulatory relationships competing endogenous (ceRNA) provide more information manipulate metamorphosis are helpful for developing effective sustainable methods mosquitoes.

Abstract In addition to preventing precocious larval metamorphosis, juvenile hormone (JH), synthesized in corpora allata (CA), is known stimulate female reproduction of insects. JH titer extremely low or absent during but thereafter rapidly increases the previtellogenic stage and rises a peak vitellogenic phase. However, mechanisms underlying biosynthesis high levels adults remain unclear. We found this study that 12 genes involved synthesis pathway were highly expressed CA adult locusts. By transcriptome analysis quantitative real‐time – polymerase chain reaction validation, total 106 evolutionary conserved micro RNAs (miRNAs) 163 species‐specific miRNAs identified locust CA. Dual‐luciferase assay revealed 17 bound 10 (JHSGs) downregulated their expression. These stage, which was oppositive from targeting JHSGs. Six including miR‐971‐3p, miR‐31a, miR‐9‐5p, miR‐1‐3p, miR‐315, miR‐282 selected for function study. Co‐application agomiRs resulted significantly decreased JHSGs, accompanied by reduced vitellogenin expression as well arrested ovarian development. The data suggest multiple synchronously at phase, thereby ensuring JHSG facilitate required JH‐dependent reproduction. findings provide important information deciphering miRNA—messenger RNA modules regulation insect metamorphosis

Abstract Oogenesis is crucial for sexual reproduction and provides the material basis population continuation. Nonetheless, identity of cells involved, nature transformation, underlying regulators oogenesis in crustaceans remain elusive. Here, an atlas ovary plotted via single‐nuclei RNA sequencing (snRNA‐seq) mud crab Scylla paramamosain , resulting five cell types, including germ cells, somatic three follicle types identified, which turn abundant candidate markers them. Moreover, profiles ligand‐receptor different indicate roles communication oogenesis. Dozens transcription factors trajectory from oogonia to oocytes as well key molecules/pathways relevant are screened, evolutionarily conserved its regulatory mechanism subject some modification across various phyla. The spatiotemporal expression patterns seven further verified RNAi confirms essential piwi VgR These data help elucidate gametogenesis evolution reproductive strategy invertebrates.
