Effective municipal solid waste (MSW) management is a critical challenge for policymakers, exacerbated by population growth and urbanization. Approximately 2 billion tonnes of MSW are generated globally each year, with 30 % uncollected 70 landfilled. Waste incineration is a crucial component of waste management as it the final stage circular utilization and initial phase disposal. Effective prioritizes energy recovery from substantial volume reduction while committing to minimizing air pollutant emissions, particularly nitrogen oxides (NOx). This study involves an in-depth analysis operational data 44 facilities in South Korea spanning 5 years, supplemented by empirical measurements 14 sites. aimed assess three key aspects these facilities: (1) characteristics, (2) capabilities, (3) NOx emission performance. Leachate formation is one of the most important factors taken into account during operation and long-term management municipal waste landfills.
