Exposure to airborne particulates is estimated as the largest cause of premature human mortality worldwide and particular concern in sub-Saharan Africa where emissions are high data lacking. Particulate matter (PM) contains several toxic organic species including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) nitrated PAHs (NPAHs). This study provides first characterization source identification for PM10- PM2.5-bound NPAHs during a three-month period that spanned dry wet seasons at three locations Rwanda. The 24-h mean PM2.5 PM10 concentrations were significantly higher than season. PAH NPAH urban roadside site background rural site. Polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) in particulate matter contribute considerably to the health risk of air pollution. As such, we have optimized a method determine levels polycyclic hydrocarbons, especially nitrated and oxygenated samples PM10 using microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) gas chromatography coupled triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS). The proposed was applied analysis real collected urban area Ciudad Real (Spain) during one year. median total concentrations eighteen PAHs (∑PAHs) seven OPAHs (∑OPAHs) were 0.54 0.23 ng m-3, respectively, with corresponding value for NPAH (∑NPAHs) being 0.03 m-3 (only detected 40% samples). A clear seasonal trend observed, higher cold season lower warm ∑PAHs. same effect observed ∑OPAHs, which exhibited concentration 0.72 0.10 season, ∑NPAH, 0.04 but not season. In the present research, an ultrasound‐assisted magnetic solid‐phase extraction coupled with a gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry hybrid system was developed for extraction/determination of trace amounts polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in high‐consumption soft drinks and non‐alcoholic beers Iran using magnetite graphene oxide adsorbent. The characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission microscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, vibrating‐sample magnetometer techniques. highest recovery (73.05%–95.56%) enrichment factor (90.65–106.38) were obtained at adsorbent mass: 10 mg, adsorption time: 30 min, salt addition: sodium chloride 10% w/v, desorption 20 eluent type: hexane: acetone (1:1, v/v), solvent volumes: 200 μl. Under optimum conditions, linearity range determination 0.2–200 ng/ml coefficient > 0.993, limit detection = 0.09–0.21 ng/ml, quantitation 0.3–0.7 relative standard deviation < 8.1%, respectively. Relative recoveries spiked real samples ranged from 94.67 to 109.45% 6.05%. proposed method is effective, sensitive, reusable it promising analysis residues environmental samples.
