Microplastics and nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants that act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), raising significant concerns about their impact on human health. Research highlights the hazardous effects of MPs/NPs both male female reproductive systems, influencing germ cells, embryo development, progeny. Additionally, studies show affect gene expression anabolic steroid hormones in vitro vivo, inducing toxicity through mechanisms such oxidative stress inflammation. Considering these adverse effects, identifying natural compounds can mitigate is increasingly important. Plants offer a wealth antioxidants anti-inflammatory counteract harmful effects. Among these, anthocyanins, colorants responsible for vibrant hues fruits flowers, exhibit wide range biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-neoplastic properties. Moreover, anthocyanins modulate sex hormone levels alleviate toxicity. Cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G), one most extensively studied shows promise reducing toxicity, particularly females, protecting organs, testis epididymis. This protective effect believed to result from its interaction with receptors, specifically androgen estrogen receptors (ERs). The impact of micro/nano plastics (MPs/NPs) on human health is a significant area research. Studies the effects maternal exposure to microplastics (MPs) fertility in offspring have been conducted, but damage caused by nanoplastics (NPs) remains ambiguous. In this study, pregnant Kunming mice were exposed 30 mg/kg/day PS-NPs from 0.5 gestation day (GD) 21 days postpartum (dpp). Increased rates miscarriage and premature delivery observed, as well reduced litter size, indicating potential permanent reproductive injury group. Maternal impaired female offsprings. Decreased primordial increased growing follicles observed ovaries at 1 dpp 7 group, activation follicles. This likely due PS-NPs'induction AKT-FOXO3a signaling pathway downregulating AMPK phosphorylation level enhancing mTOR activity. Furthermore, reduction transzonal projections (TZPs) was noted adult RNA sequencing revealed that TZPs related genes may be linked CAMKIIβ, with corresponding downregulation expression levels. Overall, induced profound enduring functions offspring, raising critical alarms regarding multigenerational toxicity risks associated nanoplastic mammals.

Humans are constantly exposed to micro- and nanosized plastics (MNPs); however, there is still limited understanding of their fate within the body, partially due limitations with current analytical techniques. The study assessed appropriateness pyrolysis–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (Py-GC-MS) analysis for quantification a range polymers in human blood. An extraction protocol that reduced matrix interferences (false positives) polyethylene (PE) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was developed validated. Extraction recoveries ranged 7–109%, although surface-modified polystyrene (carboxylated) increased nanoparticle from 17 52%. Realistic detection limits were calculated each polymer, accounting suppression recovery. These up 20 times higher than nominal Milli-Q water. Finally, method tested pilot Australian population. PE but present, no other above limits. It concluded Py-GC-MS currently not suitable PVC biological matrices presence nonspecific pyrolysis products. Furthermore, while it plausible detect some blood, estimated exposure concentrations needed approaching technique.
