This study examined respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) F glycoprotein (gp) antigen for molecular mimicry with the human proteome. It was found that viral presents an impressive number of pentapeptides (namely, 525 out 570) in common proteome, sequences widely and repeatedly distributed among 3,762 proteins implicated crucial fundamental cellular functions. The data can have implications anti-RSV vaccines. Indeed, high level lead to cross-reactivity autoimmunity, invites follow safer vaccinal protocols based on pentapeptide uniquely present antigen.

Lactoferrin, a multifunctional iron-binding protein found in milk and other body fluids, possesses numerous biological activities. The functional activity of lactoferrin lies not only its capacity but also the molecular mechanisms by which it can affect important chemical components host. However, underlying these activities remain unelucidated. In this paper, we review structure, properties, contents different sources. activities, namely antibacterial, antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, bone regeneration, improved metabolic disorder bioactivities, associated potential are summarized with aim providing reference for development lactoferrin-related products.

Emerging infectious diseases are caused by unpredictable viruses with the dangerous potential to trigger global pandemics. These typically initiate infection utilizing anionic structures of host cell surface receptors gain entry. Lactoferrin (Lf) is a multifunctional glycoprotein multiple properties such as antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Due its cationic structure, Lf naturally interacts certain receptors, heparan sulfate proteoglycans, well viral particles other that targeted viruses. Therefore, may interfere virus-host interactions acting receptor competitor for Herein we summarize studies in which this competition was investigated SARS-CoV-2, Zika, Dengue, Hepatitis Influenza vitro . have demonstrated not only Lf’s competitive properties, but also intracellular impact on cells, enhancing survival reducing efficiency inhibiting enzymes. In addition, immunomodulatory effect highlighted, it can influence activity specific immune cells regulate cytokine release, thereby host’s response infections. Collectively, these promote promising candidate research diseases.

A limited number of effective therapies are currently available to treat human coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses, which responsible for nearly a third global cases the common cold. The possibility new emerging coronaviruses demands powerful antiviral strategies. Lactoferrin is well-known protein that possesses anti-inflammatory immunomodulatory activities, it has previously shown activity against several viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. To increase this activity, here we present bovine liposomal lactoferrin. Liposomal encapsulation compound was proven permeability, bioavailability, time release. In work, compare free lactoferrin HCoV229E in vitro primary bronchial epithelial cells, demonstrated form exerts more potent than its at non-cytotoxic doses.

As for other viral diseases, the mechanisms behind apparent relationship between COVID‐19 and autoimmunity are yet to be clearly defined. Molecular mimicry, existence of sequence and/or conformational homology human antigens, could an important contributing factor. Here, we review accumulated evidence supporting occurrence mimicry SARS‐CoV‐2 proteins. Both bioinformatic approaches antibody cross‐reactions have yielded a significant magnitude events, far more common than expected happen by chance. The clinical implication this phenomenon is ample since many identified antigens may participate in pathophysiology or targets autoimmune diseases. Thus, related partially explained molecular further research designed specifically address possibility needed.

Regulated cell death (RCD) is a strategy employed by host cells to defend invasions of pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria. Ferroptosis type RCD characterized excessive accumulation iron lipid peroxidation. While ferroptosis primarily considered mechanism associated with tumorigenesis, emerging evidence begin suggest that it may play essential role during virus infections. Recent studies illustrated activation could either induce or prohibit various types RCDs facilitate replication evade surveillance. More experimental has demonstrated how regulate influence replication, transmission, pathogenesis. This review summarizes ferroptosis-related metabolism, including peroxidation, antioxidant metabolism. Furthermore, we discuss the interplay between viral infections process, focus on exploit for its own replication. Understanding impacts infection can offer valuable insights into development effective therapeutic strategies combat

Certain milk proteins and peptides exhibit promising immunogenic antiviral properties, particularly against coronaviruses like SARS-CoV-2. Amidst the global pandemic, these bioactive components present potential alternatives for combating viral diseases. Milk are known to play important roles functioning in various stages of SARS-CoV-2 replication cycle, including entry, endocytic processes, replication, cell signaling modulation. Notably, bovine lactoferrin, is reported synergistically enhance effects remdesivir, an FDA-approved anti-SARS-CoV-2 drug. Peptides derived from have demonstrated some efficacy both vitro silico studies. While findings highlight as natural agents, further validation through vivo studies clinical trials imperative determine their efficacy, safety, optimal dosages. This review provides a comprehensive exploration specific peptides.

Despite the rapid mass vaccination against COVID-19, emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants concern, such as omicron, is still a great distress, and therapeutic options are needed. Bovine lactoferrin (bLf), multifunctional iron-binding glycoprotein available in unsaturated (apo-bLf) saturated (holo-bLf) forms, has been shown to exert broad-spectrum antiviral activity many viruses. In this study, we evaluated efficacy both forms bLf at 1 mg/mL infection Vero cells by SARS-CoV-2. As assessed with assays, an equivalent significant reduction virus about 70% was observed when either form present throughout procedure ancestral or omicron strain. This inhibitory effect seemed be concentrated during early steps infection, since its efficiency 60% apo- holo-bLf were incubated before addition, no difference between effects distinct iron-saturation states protein. However, ultrastructural analysis treatment revealed that somewhat more effective than apo-bLf inhibiting entry. Together, these data suggest mainly acts events well variant. Considering there treatments COVID-19 tolerable toxicity yet, shows up promising candidate.
