Lactoferrin,
a
multifunctional
iron-binding
protein
found
in
milk
and
other
body
fluids,
possesses
numerous
biological
activities.
The
functional
activity
of
lactoferrin
lies
not
only
its
capacity
but
also
the
molecular
mechanisms
by
which
it
can
affect
important
chemical
components
host.
However,
underlying
these
activities
remain
unelucidated.
In
this
paper,
we
review
structure,
properties,
contents
different
sources.
activities,
namely
antibacterial,
antiviral,
immunomodulatory,
anti-inflammatory,
bone
regeneration,
improved
metabolic
disorder
bioactivities,
associated
potential
are
summarized
with
aim
providing
reference
for
development
lactoferrin-related
products.

Emerging
infectious
diseases
are
caused
by
unpredictable
viruses
with
the
dangerous
potential
to
trigger
global
pandemics.
These
typically
initiate
infection
utilizing
anionic
structures
of
host
cell
surface
receptors
gain
entry.
Lactoferrin
(Lf)
is
a
multifunctional
glycoprotein
multiple
properties
such
as
antiviral,
anti-inflammatory
and
antioxidant
activities.
Due
its
cationic
structure,
Lf
naturally
interacts
certain
receptors,
heparan
sulfate
proteoglycans,
well
viral
particles
other
that
targeted
viruses.
Therefore,
may
interfere
virus-host
interactions
acting
receptor
competitor
for
Herein
we
summarize
studies
in
which
this
competition
was
investigated
SARS-CoV-2,
Zika,
Dengue,
Hepatitis
Influenza
vitro
.
have
demonstrated
not
only
Lf’s
competitive
properties,
but
also
intracellular
impact
on
cells,
enhancing
survival
reducing
efficiency
inhibiting
enzymes.
In
addition,
immunomodulatory
effect
highlighted,
it
can
influence
activity
specific
immune
cells
regulate
cytokine
release,
thereby
host’s
response
infections.
Collectively,
these
promote
promising
candidate
research
diseases.

A

To
increase
this
activity,
here
we
present
bovine
liposomal
lactoferrin.
Liposomal
encapsulation
compound
was
proven
permeability,
bioavailability,
time
release.
In
work,
compare
free
lactoferrin
HCoV229E
in
vitro
primary
bronchial
epithelial
cells,
demonstrated
form
exerts
more
potent
than
its
at
non-cytotoxic
doses.

As

viral
diseases,
the
mechanisms
behind
apparent
relationship
between
COVID‐19
and
autoimmunity
are
yet
to
be
clearly
defined.
Molecular
mimicry,
existence
of
sequence
and/or
conformational
homology

antigens,
could
an
important
contributing
factor.
Here,
we
review
accumulated
evidence
supporting
occurrence
mimicry
SARS‐CoV‐2
proteins.
Both
bioinformatic
approaches
antibody
cross‐reactions
have
yielded
a
significant
magnitude
events,
far
more
common
than
expected
happen
by
chance.
The
clinical
implication
this
phenomenon
is
ample
since
many
identified
antigens
may
participate
in
pathophysiology
or
targets
autoimmune
diseases.
Thus,

metabolism,

Despite
the
rapid
mass
vaccination
against
COVID-19,
emergence
of
new
SARS-CoV-2
variants
concern,
such
as
omicron,
is
still
a
great
distress,
and
therapeutic
options
are
needed.
Bovine
lactoferrin
(bLf),
multifunctional
iron-binding
glycoprotein
available
in
unsaturated
(apo-bLf)
saturated
(holo-bLf)
forms,
has
been
shown
to
exert
broad-spectrum
antiviral
activity
many
viruses.
In
this
study,
we
evaluated
efficacy
both
forms
bLf
at
1
mg/mL
infection
Vero
cells
by
SARS-CoV-2.
As
assessed
with
assays,
an
equivalent
significant
reduction
virus
about
70%
was
observed
when
either
form
present
throughout
procedure
ancestral
or
omicron
strain.
This
inhibitory
effect
seemed
be
concentrated
during
early
steps
infection,
since
its
efficiency
60%
apo-
holo-bLf
were
incubated
before
addition,
no
difference
between
effects
distinct
iron-saturation
states
protein.
However,
ultrastructural
analysis
treatment
revealed
that
somewhat
more
effective
than
apo-bLf
inhibiting
entry.
Together,
these
data
suggest
mainly
acts
events
well
variant.
Considering
there
treatments
COVID-19
