This study investigates the impact of embedded questions in pre-class instructional videos on learner perceptions (cognitive load, emotional engagement, satisfaction, judgement learning), video engagement (total views, total viewing time), and learning performance (retention, transfer). The research occurred a real flipped classroom environment. We designed quasi-experiment which 86 university students from two natural classes watched featuring procedural knowledge with or without interpolated true false questions. Students were asked to practice operation steps introduced videos. While they practiced operations, could either pause let continue playing. Face-to-face contact time was utilised consolidate extend previewed content student-centred, instructor-facilitated problem-solving activities. Results revealed no discernible effects cognitive learning, retention transfer. speculate that various in-class activities frequent access offset benefits derived question-embedded Learners who viewed presented significantly reduced time, likely because scaffolded them sustaining attention efficiently pinpointing exact information needed. Future should identify boundary conditions for embedding (e.g. mode, type knowledge) rather than indiscriminately applying this design strategy.

Videos are arguably the most important and frequently used instructional resource in massive open online courses (MOOCs). Recent research has explored learners' perceptions preferences regarding MOOC videos. However, these studies often limited to a small number of specific courses, few grounded theory have been undertaken investigate this topic. In present study, multiple-coder methodology was adopted analyze 4534 learner reviews MOOCs 14 categories. The study aimed identify key characteristics associated with favorable videos, types supplemental or in-video resources learners perceive helpful support video use, production features value. Results revealed that (a) "organized", "detailed", "comprehensible", "interesting", "practical" were top five videos; (b) perceived "presentation slides", "reading materials", "post-video assessments", "embedded questions", "case studies" as their utilization (c) found "duration" more salient feature than "editing", "resolution", "subtitles", "music", "voice". findings implications for design foundations future avenues.

Abstract Although video-based flipped learning is a widely accepted pedagogical strategy, few attempts have been made to explore the design and integration of pre-class instructional videos into in-class activities improve effectiveness classrooms. This study investigated whether question-embedded videos, together with opportunity review these questions at beginning sessions, affected student processes outcomes. Seventy university students from two naturally constituted classes participated in quasi-experimental study. The experiment adopted pre-test/post-test, between-subjects lasted for six weeks, same content experimental control groups. Students’ age, sex, pre-experiment motivation, prior knowledge, perceived knowledge were controlled results indicate that educational intervention significantly strengthened performance, likely due increased regularity engagement materials. did not influence satisfaction or video viewing duration. Overall, findings suggest instructors should consider embedding reviewing them sessions facilitate

Abstract Purpose To assess the effects of modifying head position and static ocular counter-rolling (OCR) on abduction adduction in saccadic eye movements using a head-mounted video-oculographic device. Study design A clinical observational study. Methods The peak velocities amplitude gains visually guided 12° saccades were binocularly measured 21 healthy volunteers with their heads upright vertical (0°) horizontal (± 90°, bilateral side-lying) postures, 6 participants positions bilaterally tilted by 30°. rotation angles eyeballs generated via OCR 30° 90° evaluated five participants. Results Peak significantly higher 0° compared to ± 90°. decreases at not affected apogeotropic or geotropic directions. Faster greater abduction, rather than adduction, observed under each test condition. tendencies toward faster velocity gain preserved. absolute larger those Conclusions Head both saccades. findings suggest that modified force vectors exerted different muscles recruited during play role. Our research provides valuable insights for assessing across various positions.
