Alternative protein sources in aquafeed: Current scenario and future perspectives

Fish
meal
represents
the
main
protein
source
for
most
commercially
farmed
aquatic
species,
as
it
is
characterized
by
high
nutritional
value
and
lack
of
anti-nutritional
factors.
However,
its
availability
market
price
have
been
recognized
serious
problems
at
least
over
a
decade,
making
necessary
to
search
non-conventional
sources,
an
alternative
fish
meals.
This
review
aims
comprehensively
examine
critically
revise
use
all
sources
explored
date
on
health,
welfare,
growth
performance
major
species
interesting
from
global
scenario.
The
investigation
revealed
that
inclusion
levels
different
plant-
animal-derived,
ranged

respectively,
in
partial
or
complete
replacement
meal,
generated
positive
effects
performance,
fillet
quality.
results
showed

certain

inclusion,
each
can
negatively

study

cultivation

study
aimed
to
identify
