Petroleum hydrocarbons (PHs) are used as raw materials in many industries and primary energy sources. However, excessive PHs act soil pollutants, posing serious threats to living organisms. Various ex-situ or in-situ chemical biological methods applied restore polluted soil. most of the treatment expensive, environmentally unfriendly, sometimes inefficient. That attracts scientists researchers develop select new strategists remediate through risk-based analysis eco-friendly manner. This review discusses sources PHs, properties, distribution, transport, fate environment, internal external factors affecting remediation restoration process, its effective re-utilization for agriculture. Bioremediation is an method degrading specifically by using microorganisms. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies being monitor contaminated sites.
