Wastewater from industrial laundries is often difficult to treat because it usually presents high turbidity and chemical oxygen demand (COD). We studied several processes for the treatment of laundry wastewater which was provided by a hotel in south Gran Canaria, Spain. More specifically, we coagulation with iron (III) sulphate, Fenton, photo-Fenton biological (using biofilter, granular activated carbon, GAC, filtration). Due to its ubiquitous presence in the environment and lack of a scientific consensus regarding environmental safety widely used anionic surfactant Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (CAS No: 151-21-3), systematic literature review thematic analysis was conducted. All studies about sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) key databases were reviewed, with coding methods identify impact categories from SLS exposure without potential narration bias. Based on limited number SLS, there is empirical evidence this contributing toxicity at various concentrations (0.004–3509 mg L-1), aquatic organisms higher risk exposure. Microbial biosurfactants are an attractive and promising class of molecules with the potential to replace oil-derived surfactants for formulation ecofriendly biocompatible products. In this review, we discuss literature findings, mostly reported in last decade, on self-assembly four main classes microbial biosurfactants, i.e., rhamnolipids, mannosylerythritol lipids, sophorolipids, surfactin. All them present composite molecular structures, characterized by different functional groups ionizable moieties a high conformational flexibility. Where possible, formation aggregate morphologies terms biosurfactant structure variation environmental parameters. We highlight how is regulated complex interplay between various intermolecular interactions, including H-bonds steric constraints, besides electrostatic hydrophobic interactions. For reason, show that common theoretical approaches amphiphile self-assembly, such as critical packing parameter, have limitations rationalizing predicting aggregation behaviour.

This study aimed to enhance carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-based films by incorporating zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and cress seed mucilage (CSM), with a view augmenting the physical, mechanical, permeability properties of resulting nanocomposite films. For first time, CSM was exploited as green surfactant synthetize ZnO NPs using hydrothermal method. Seven distinct film samples were meticulously produced subjected comprehensive array analyses. The findings revealed that incorporation CSM/ZnO-5 % improved physical films, demonstrating significant reduction in moisture content water vapor (WVP). Increasing concentration conjunction markedly decreased solubility nanocomposites up 56 %. containing CSM/ZnO showed higher tensile strength elongation at break values. UV absorption exhibited substantial rise addition NPs, particularly an increased presence CSM. thermal stability high improvement compared control sample.
