Microplastics, measuring less than 5 mm in diameter, are now found various environmental media, including soil, water, and air, have infiltrated the food chain, ultimately becoming a part of human diet. This study offers comprehensive examination intricate nexus between microplastics health, thereby contributing to existing knowledge on subject. Sources microplastics, microfibers from textiles, personal care products, wastewater treatment plants, among others, were assessed. The meticulously examined diverse routes microplastic exposure—ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact—offering insights into associated health risks. Notably, ingestion has been linked gastrointestinal disturbances, endocrine disruption, potential transmission pathogenic bacteria. Inhalation airborne emerges as critical concern, with possible implications for respiratory cardiovascular health. Dermal contact, although explored, raises prospect skin irritation allergic reactions. impacts COVID-19 pollution also highlighted. Throughout manuscript, need deeper mechanistic understanding interactions systems is emphasized, underscoring urgency further research public awareness.

SUMMARYThis narrative review and meta-analysis summarizes a broad evidence base on the benefits-and also practicalities, disbenefits, harms personal, sociocultural environmental impacts-of masks masking. Our synthesis of from over 100 published reviews selected primary studies, including re-analyzing contested meta-analyses key clinical trials, produced seven findings. First, there is strong consistent for airborne transmission severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) other pathogens. Second, are, if correctly consistently worn, effective in reducing diseases show dose-response effect. Third, respirators are significantly more than medical or cloth masks. Fourth, mask mandates overall, community Fifth, important symbols; non-adherence to masking sometimes linked political ideological beliefs widely circulated mis- disinformation. Sixth, while much that not generally harmful general population, may be relatively contraindicated individuals with certain conditions, who require exemption. Furthermore, groups (notably D/deaf people) disadvantaged when others masked. Finally, risks environment single-use respirators. We propose an agenda future research, improved characterization situations which should recommended mandated; attention comfort acceptability; generalized disability-focused communication support settings where worn; development testing novel materials designs filtration, breathability, impact.

Abstract The huge amounts of sewage sludge produced by municipal wastewater treatment plants induce major environmental and economical issues, calling for advanced disposal methods. Traditional methods increase greenhouse gas emissions pollution. Moreover, biochar created from often cannot be used directly in soil applications due to elevated levels heavy metals other toxic compounds, which alter biota earthworms. This has limited the application sludge-derived as a fertilizer. Here, we review biomass co-pyrolysis with focus on stabilization toxicity reduction biochar. We observed that co-pyrolyzing materials reduced metal concentrations decreased risk up 93%. Biochar could enhance reproduction stimulation 20‒98%. Heavy immobilization transformation are controlled co-feed material mixing ratio, pyrolysis temperature, atmosphere.
