Background Facing the social panic and substantial shortage of medical resources during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, providing psychological first-aid to inpatients is essential for their rehabilitation orderly operating systems. However, closed-ward environment extreme onsite mental health workers have limited use traditional face-to-face diagnosis interventions. Aim To develop a intervention model that can be applied widespread epidemic, such as COVID-19. Methods In team stationed in Leishenshan Hospital, Wuhan, China, we integrated online support implement graded system. The psychiatrist established trust with patients classified them into categories according symptom severity. While evaluation are critical effective support, effectively extended scope ‘first-aid’ all patients. Conclusion This approach was efficient interventions crisis. Our provides realistic scheme healthcare systems or after COVID-19 epidemic also could adopted areas world insufficient resources.

A better understanding conditions will lead tailored support resources for after pandemic.Cross-sectional study.Hospital nurses assistants (N = 587) were recruited online between May-June 2020. The survey included insomnia (Insomnia Severity Index) recovery (Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery-15), burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey), (Short Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Rating Interview) distress (Patient Health Questionnaire-4), questions work demographics. STROBE checklist was followed reporting. The sample had subthreshold moderate-to-high chronic fatigue, high acute low-to-moderate recovery. experienced increased emotional exhaustion depersonalisation, personal accomplishment, moderate stress. Nurses who cared patients significantly scored worse almost all than their co-workers. Certain factors such as working hours per week frequency 30-min breaks significant.Nursing poor sleep, multiple problems pandemic. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can occur following exposure to traumatic experience. An estimated 12 million U.S. adults are presently affected by this disorder. Current treatments include psychological therapies (e.g., exposure-based interventions) and pharmacological selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)). However, significant proportion of patients receiving standard-of-care for PTSD remain symptomatic, new approaches other trauma-related conditions greatly needed. Psychedelic compounds alter cognition, perception, mood currently being examined their efficacy in treating despite current status as Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)- scheduled substances. Initial clinical trials have demonstrated the potential value psychedelicassisted therapy treat psychiatric disorders. In comprehensive review, we summarize state science care, including shortcomings. We review studies psychedelic interventions PTSD, disorders, common comorbidities. The classic psychedelics psilocybin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) DMT-containing ayahuasca, well entactogen 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) dissociative anesthetic ketamine, reviewed. For each drug, present history use, somatic effects, pharmacology, safety profile. rationale proposed mechanisms use traumarelated disorders discussed. This concludes with an in-depth consideration future directions applications maximize therapeutic benefit minimize risk individuals communities impacted conditions.

Abstract Background Research has shown sleep problems, elevated fatigue, and high cases of burnout, as well signs post‐traumatic stress psychological distress among nurses during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Many US hospitals attempted to minimise its impact on staff by providing basic resources, mental health services, wellness programs. Therefore, it is critical re‐evaluate these well‐being indices guide future administrative efforts. Purpose To determine long‐term pandemic after 18 months hospital nurses' insomnia, stress, distress. Design Cross‐sectional. Methods Data were collected online mainly through state board nursing association listservs between July–September 2021 ( N = 2488). The survey had psychometrically tested instruments (Insomnia Severity Index, Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory, Short Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder, Patient Health Questionnaire‐4) sections demographics, health, work. STrengthening Reporting Observational studies in Epidemiology checklist was followed for reporting. Results Nurses subthreshold moderate‐to‐high chronic acute low‐to‐moderate intershift recovery. Regarding they experienced increased emotional exhaustion personal accomplishment, some depersonalisation. mild but scored stress. who frequently cared patients with past significantly worse all measures than their co‐workers. Factors such experience, shift length, frequency rest breaks related indices. Conclusion Nurses' experiences similar findings from early minor improvements provided patient care, worked ≥12 h per shift, skipped almost Relevance clinical practice Administration can help recovery support, treatment options re‐structure current work schedules ensure that are taken.

Prazosin has been an accepted treatment for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who experience sleep disturbances, including nightmares. Results of a recent large randomized control trial did not find benefit prazosin vs placebo in improving such outcomes. A meta-analysis that includes this most was conducted to examine the pooled effect on disturbances and overall PTSD symptoms PTSD.A systematic review published literature trials comparing improvement scores, nightmares, quality conducted. Hedges' g standardized mean differences (SMD) between were calculated each outcome across studies.Six placebo-controlled studies representing 429 included analysis, two crossover design. showed significantly improved scores (SMD = -0.31; 95% confidence intervals [CI]: -0.62, -0.01), nightmares -0.75; CI: -1.24, -0.27), -0.57; -1.02, -0.13). In largest trial, reduction clinical measures similar past studies, but relatively size, particularly contributed no differences.Despite results recent, study, estimates show statistically significant disturbances. Limitations should be considered include heterogeneity study design populations as well small number meta-analysis.
